mk6 golf gti rough idle/firing on 3
« on: 30 January 2021, 20:31 »
Hi all,

I have a mk6 golf gti that seems to be running on 3 cylinders. Scanned it with a  mate and it showed cylinder one misfire. Went home, researched, ordered new coils and plugs and have fitted today thinking that would be all done..... Issue is still there.........not throwing any codes now and when ignition is on, each connector of the harness, on pins 1&2 have 12v.

new plugs look sutted up already.

little bit of spec is that has stage 2 remap, final section of induction kit.

im waiting for my new scanner to turn up tomorrow (Autel AutoLink AL519) to try and see if i can read cylinders etc.

any help on where to look next would be much appreciated,

cheers

chuck

swap the coil from cylinder 1 to another and see if the misfire follows the change... check live data on engine blocks 14,15 and 16 for misfires

instinct tells me its an injector on its way out, best replacing all 4 at the same time

Hi,

Just a update really. Last week, i thought id go and try a new PCV valve as when it was running rough, i could hardly remove the oil cap, as in it was mega tight (vacumed on). Ordered new pcv valve, fitted it, issue gone. :]
