HI,
quick thread as I am very intrigued. I know how to get into the secret menu on a mk2 golf gti MFA.
But does anybody know what all the options are. The only one I know of is the digital speed reading which is the second along. Have searched loads on the internet but cant find anything.
Are all the others CO2 readings and fuel to air?
Please help I fear I may not sleep LOL
Thankyou all

Hold the button in, turn your ignition on, off and on again
position 1:
Default: Engine code
1: Land code
2: Speedometer
3: Upper rev limitter
4: Lower rev limitter
5: Decelaration fuel pressure
6: Display test
MFA switch on position 2:
Default: Test programm of programmed bytes (checksum)
1: Intake Vacuum
2: Digital rev counter
3: Fuel usage (like normal)
4: Signal from speedo sensor
5: Oil temperature (like default)
6: Ambient temperature (like default)
Edit: See my last post on page 2 for an alternate list I got from another website!

i thought you could only get journey time, distance, ave speed, mpg, oil temp, ambient temp..
wow, it brings back the good old days of up up down down left left right right etc on the start up screen on sonic the hedgehog..
what buttons do i push to get an extra 50hp??

WOW
You rock

RubJ
How can I wire up so it shows digital miles all the time..
Is there a take off somewhere that I can attach to a digital gauge to show this all the time ?
A
-
Whoa now boy what makes you think I would know these things
Sorry I haven't a clue how you would do this, when you say digital miles which one were you refering to?
-
Sorry Rubj, you just sparked a mod idea in me.
If the mfa is capable of showing Speedometer as digital in that MFA menu you just rattled off so easily.
I was thinking to myself it would be cool to display this all the time with an aux gauge.
-
this thread should be made sticky, never new there was a secret menu!
-
Hmm, no idea how to get that but I assume it is read from the little sensor screwed into the back of the speedo, if you knew someone who is a whizz with electronics and decoding signals it shouldn't be too dificult.
Plus there is the digitial speedo sender that was fitted to the MK3, but the troble with that is it goes where the normal speedo cable goes so you would loose the speedo drive.
-
i'll move it and sticky it in the maintainance & info section ok?!
-
No! I demand you move it back this instant!!
-
The secret menu is ideal for setting your idle speed
I always useit to set mine
-
Yeah it's a very accurate for setting the idle!
Also - Decelaration fuel pressure & Intake Vacuum
Any ideas what the these values should read on a properlly set up valver?
-
Tried this out, pretty cool, I like the fact that the mpg reading is instantaneous rather than an average. However the speedometer setting doesn't seem to work on mine it just displays 955 all the time??? This was the setting I was most interested in as my momo wheel obstructs my view of the speedo. Does this setting work for everyone else???
-
on another site it lists it as 'rpm engine' and says it shows the actual rpm of the engine? Could it mean the idle rpm?
-
Please explain. What is 'Land Code' and what do the rest of the readings indicate. I have managed to access the secret menu but it means f... all to me.
-
I have managed to find an old copy of the website, I'll update when I'm not drunk and tired
-
Are you still drunk and tired?
-
Well I've sobered up and had some rest, here's the cached version I found:
MFA position 1
Default: Engine Code
1. Country Code
2. Road RPM??
3. Upper RPM
4. Lower RPM
5. No Value
6. Display test
MFA position 2
Default: Program checksum
1. Intake vacuum
2. Real time RPM
3. MPG
4. Speed impulse
5. Oil Temp
6. Outside Temp
