Hmmmm :smug:, I think i might be tempted to go down the same route (ABF).

Q1, Are all the mk3 golfs 2.0L 16v, a 150 BHP or do i have to look for the engine code "ABF" ??
Q2, Is it a straightforward swap, Engine & box ?

sorry for the questions, but am not as clued up as i use to be  :embarassed:

Q1 yes, all 2.0 16v mk3 engines are the same, they also came in seats. i got one from a cordoba because i thought there would have been less chance of it having a hard life like in a mk3 gti.

Q2 depends what your base car is, i had a quick scan of the thread but didnt see you mention?

if it's any help i was told it's an easier conversion into a late 8 valve mk2.
As mk2 16v's don't have the same sort of management, with kjet being mechanical rather tham the digifant system - so wiring looms are very different.
I'm no expert so just relaying info that was passed onto me!
I used my k jet fueling with the ABF engine

I think i'l go with the k-jet system, looks like an easy conversion to start with, then do a "ABF on Megasquirt" but i will need to look into it a bit more there's still some things i don't understand  :nerd: thanks for the advice.

Is the ABF conversion also know as the 2.0L short block engine or is this a different conversion to the engine its self, ie altering the internal parts??

I'v also been thinking of what cars that are out there that would be a competitor to the Golf once i get round to the ABF conversion and the only one i feel that might be a challenge to keep up with is the Honda civics'. And from what i'v learnt so far, the ABF engine products 150BHP and from what i know the civics produce 160/170 and 180 bhp for a jap import and for a Type R 192 bhp.

I don't think it would be hard to find an extra 10bhp with the right mods or even 50bhp with nitros, but as far as the ABF conversion goes how does it stand up to some of the hot hatches i'm likely to come across??
