Rewind and explain what the hell you're trying to figure out.

What's the model Passat?

Is it turbocharged now, or do you want to put a turbocharger on it?
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.

Its gonna be a right mission mate, no such thing as a 'bolt on' turbo charger. You got to tie in with oil, possibly extra injectors, full piping with a place to put your intercooler and full ecu re-map jobby, new clutch and possibly gear box, boost gauge and then... (probaly missed some points) insure it

Could be made to fit as a guess but would be better to find the correct unit.

Cheap replacement turbos are likely to result in one thing only.

More cheap replacement turbos.

It's a precision unit that either needs rebuilding properly or replacing with new.  Anything else and you're going to be getting your hands dirty pretty soon after.

For the B5 you need to either get a replacement K03 or there is a K04-15 available from 'cheap sources' which no-one seems to have tried on a passat yet but it is the right configuration for the car. Most people have put these cheap k04-15's on G40 turbos and they end up getting mounted upside down on a fast revving engien which may be why they go pop so easily.
Apparently these cheap K04-15's will probably be fine on a passat as it is designed to be used on that engine and so is configured for it, and because of the different loading on the turbo from the passat. Like I say, no-one seems to have used one yet on UKPassats so they might be fine or they might be crap.
The K04-15 isn't to be confused with the K04-22 used on TT's and S3's though, its more like a K03s.

I would be interested in above mentioned cheap source :) have a k03 at them moment but I need to make lines and suchlike so in limbo at the moment as to big turbo or just k03s but I don't want scene tax on top of a second hand one :)

Probably got lost in the "Great Crash of 08
