You should try Kniterider some time, if you really want to see a bite....

Bit of diagnostics last night - pressure gauge on the fuel system.

Unfortunately it was for manifold pressure on an oil-fired boiler, so the scale was a touch out.

Even so, we should have ~3bar pressure on the fuel feed at wide open throttle and it looks like under 2bar.

I'm going to see if I can get hold of a better fuel pressure gauge and re-check it, but it looks much like the pump on the shelf is going under the Corrado to see if that cures the poor performance and inconsistent response.

Ding dong.

Replacement fuel pump.

We're up on the 6A already and I'm not convinced this pump is all there yet.

Top buzz back through from workshop to home tonight, via Porchfield.

On the way out this morning it was still titting about, so I disconnected the lambda, which cured that.

Timing still to be checked.

Need a few more weeks to get it fully started and then if you want to come over I'm going to have some concreting to sort out.

I'm sure you'll be keen to help out.

I'm sure Khare wouldn't mind getting his hands dirty mixing & pouring some concrete.

Just using my new Durite Terminal Extration Tool Set to dismount the speedo wires from the Corrado engine loom, as they're not in the Golf3 engine loom. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

There are three wires:

A black wire, which goes into a common earth, which is black and white and goes back to a white plug, which has a central locating lug on the opposite end to the clip.  Looking from the side the wires go into, working from the clip-end being the top it terminates second down on the right.

A white wire with a blue trace, which terminates in a second white plug, which has a locating lug on the right hand side.  This wire terminates bottom left in this plug.

Then there's a brown wire, which terminates in a third, slightly wider plug.  The brown wire terminates second down on the right.

Photos of the new tool and wires shortly (calm down everyone).

Cunning tools.

I will probably only use a two bits of these:

The VAG terminal tool
The flat-blade screwdriver

The damned thing I need to eject the wires from:

Push thin tweezery things in either side of hole.  This depth is easy:

But you need to penetrate as deeply as possible - ALL the way:

Getting that deep takes some pushing.

Once it's all the way in you just pull (quite hard) and the terminal comes out the back of the connector block.

Speedo drive, ready for application:

Stripped the front end off this tonight, unplugged the loom from the motor and 'box.
