Wheel straightening machine?
« on: 24 November 2010, 16:51 »
The wife ploughed into a pothole

Alloy goosed and brand new £150 tyre also

Spoke to a local tyre firm, they have a Wheel straightening machine, I've never heard of it before.

Anyone used this before?

Does it look something like a large mallet and a cold chisel?

have had wheels straightened before. they warm the area up and the mackine slowly spins them . theres an arm that then kinda stretches it back into shape. usually costs around £30 a wheel

Always best to replace the wheel. any sort of straightning of the wheel, however little weaken's the overall structure of the wheel.  Not really worth taking the risk just to save the cost of buying another wheel!

Is fine on minor bends has seen people have it done with no after problems just not on a major buckle as said replace

I personally would use it as £30 cheaper than any new wheel
Mk4 Golf GTI anniversary and mk6 golf tdi :)
