What sort of price am I looking at for a garage to replace a couple of wheel bearings?
-
Front or back?
-
The guy I go to charged me an hours labour to change both rear wheel bearings on my Mk3, which was only about £20!
-
front bearings i would say as im getting real bad sqeakk from front right when turning at slow speed and a horrible cabin drone at about 35-40mph
-
I paid 120 from the worst dub specialist in the world, who the put it so out of track I could drove it.... Then they wouldn't track it for me!!
Cost another 50 for tracking elsewhere!!
-
i took the hubs off mine and took them to a garage who did them for £10 a side
-
depends on how arsed you can be to do some of the work yourself.
if you remove the hubs and take em to the garage i'd say it would prob cost you 40 sheets all in.
for a garage to do it i'd say about £100
-
not going to be doing any of the work myself so will cost a bit more, how much do we reakon a dealers would charge to change them?

-

and most local mechanics will charge u about 30-40 quid a side to fit em
-

yea there is one i can use but im getting it serviced at the dealers i bought it from cheap ecause i have a voucher thing so thought about getting the to sort the bearing amongst other things but i guess i'll get a garage to do it
-
Might be worth getting a price from both, I have sometimes in the past found the main dealer to be cheaper than a local garage.
-
well i'll get a quote but wont hold my breath, the mot in jan at the dealers cost me 57 quid for 2 front wioers

Should have just ran off to halfrauds to get them yourself, come back and fitted them! Even if they charged you for a part retest to be anal about it, you would still have been quids in!

Sounds about right. You can buy them from Kings, trade they're about £20 something quid, come with refil pads.
However I bet they didn't give you the refil.
Therefore they should have just put a single set on. They're crafty.
