Remember that the 150's tend to suffer with an expensive cam eating problem!

Depends on the oil i would say, i always use Castrol Edge turbo diesel cost me £40-50 every service but not had any cam problems so far and gone over 120k.

Go for a 130bhp and remap it.

Well I was hoping to aim for the brighter side of 200bhp, and seeing as the 150 has the bigger turbo, uprated injectors and a front mount inter cooler as standard, it makes more sense to go for the 150 as the 130 would require alot more work and money, though I do see your point of the reliability of the 130, its just I doubt a remap to 170 bhp in a diesel would keep me occupied for very long.

The other car that I was looking at was the (and yes I'm about to say the B word) E46 330d, and get that remapped.

I believe a 130 will remap really well, plus I believe from threads on here it can sometimes make a little more torque.

Daft idea, turbo problems, swirl flaps fail and can write the engine off, they need lots of looking after.

For the power etc, it is very good, doing around 30mpg in mixed driving, will hit 40mpg on a run.

Done a bit of research, I found out the turbo failures were down to the oil feed pipes becoming blocked and these should be checked every other year, and the swirl flaps are easily removable. There are actual companies out there who manufacture blacking caps to irradiate this problem - http://swirlflaps.co.uk/index.html

I know the swirl flaps are easy to sort but they do tend to suffer turbo failures.
