For van racking in work we use: http://www.motoronservices.co.uk/
love these vans... If you're ever in need of some comfy perches or the originals tweaked I'm sure we could come to some arrangement. Also I have a mate who does livery, if you haven't already got anything sorted it might be worth having a chat to him?
me mates not going to be down for a fair while guy - so unless we do it ourselves - its you mate the chippy

spoke to VW and they said no way should it be driven long distance (its 14 miles to garage).
cost of new flywheel £300 + labour
cost of recovery truck £13.44 + beer tippage for dropping me back home
you do the math
anyway... it was virtually undriveable... its all sorted with brand new clutch. fitted in about 2 and a bit hours. Apparently the old one was COMPLETELY FUBAR

well I was in a rush yesterday and we had friends over... have just had another look at the old girl
I'm not 100% but I pretty sure that the alternator pulley shouldn't look like this :lipsrsealed:

That is not good
Told you it wouldn't be horrid. Not sure if these use the idler type pulleys or not, if so I have the tool to remove and refit.
Nick
Lol just replied to your PM.
If you're getting it sorted just remember when you pop it back together not to over tighten the belt as it'll put extra stress on the new pulley.
nick
Glad you got this sorted and well done for taking the alternator off and putting it back in, looks like there is a lack of space in Caddy's same as Shalaxies
Top Tip: Use Mole grips on that lug when loosening the tensioner. Much easier than using a spanner, allows you to pull on it with one hand while the other hand slots in a allen key to lock the tensioner with ease.
A bit late, but maybe it will help someone
No probs fella!
I'm now hanging with another BaD-VAG'r tomorrow night. Going to meet Fay and get some shots of her and the R8
Nick
In the passenger seat yes, not driving though.
Nick
Well done Mr TONA, very impressed :afro:

Or drive at the speed limit and the brakes are fine :lipsrsealed:
I don't think Mr Tona knows what speed limits are :lipsrsealed:

Is it a case of misunderstanding signs? Like if it hasn't got a number on it there is no speed limit.

I think its because our signs are in Welsh

it died a horrible death... long story short, it went t1ts up, garage spent a lot of time trying to fix it, Guy sold it to them as it was taking too long.
