I'm now wondering what my R would look like on OZ Superleggeras and a set of Ohlins. I had Ohlins on my Honda S2000, they really worked well, although they're so beautifully made that it's almost a shame to put them on a car, because you can't see them then.
I've had to forget those particular daydreams for now, and instead I've bought a Disklok to try to make sure that it stays where I've parked it, and a Nextbase 422 dash camera.
A friend and neighbour has a VCDS setup, so we ran that yesterday, to see if it threw up any faults - nothing showed up that wasn't consistent with a flat battery, which explains why the car had a relatively new looking battery. I haven't removed the cover to find out what make of battery it is, and there aren't any clues on the top, other than it's for a car equipped with start-stop. It might explain why keeping the trip meter reset button pressed down only results on the "Battery SOC" showing as ---%.
I'm waiting for LV to make their bid for my insurance business for the next year, and arranged a VW extended warranty (£38 per month, which is £11 more than the GTI - I can live with that), and considering a service plan. Otherwise, I'm just driving it, and getting used to it.
