I've started to notice that my 2016 GTI's ignition is taking longer to start.
It's keyless and has the push button start.
When I start the car, I seem to be having to hold the button down for a lot longer than usual.
It is the same when I press the button to turn the engine off.
Anyone else had this and is it a problem with the actual start button ?

MY16 keyless car (R) here, but no issues with ignition, starting or turning off. Just a short push on the button and it fires up and ignition goes off just as quickly.  I had a battery issue earlier in the year with it not holding charge (was replaced under warranty) but it never manifested in poor ignition or need to hold the start button down longer.  Sounds like it needs checking out.

I have noticed since the weather has turned cold (Ireland) that she is taking a second longer before she starts when I press the start button. But still ignition turns off and car stops the same as in warm weather. I would get it checked out. You don’t want to get caught out on a cold and wet winters morning!! FYI my car is 2013 and still on original battery(65km)but I do have stop start turned off via VCDS.

Thanks for all your replies
Looks like I may have to give the dealers a call and get it looked at.
I wonder if my alloys will survive ?

Spent the afternoon fitting the ECS Performance Inlet Scoops

Been toying with this one myself, did you order from ECS direct?  Shipping is a killer!  Did you manage the job without a dremel?

You do need a Dremel but I picked up one from The Range for about £20 a few months ago as I'd always thought it would be handy, used it for lots of jobs so worth the money.
Yes shipped it over myself, don't mind the shipping so much as the import tax(s)!

If you really are interested I might be able to help you out.

I got a set of the red scoops in the ECS sale. Got my Drexel all ready.
