I had a pretty addiction to D2 in my teens.  Was epic. My current laptop wouldn't stand a chance running D3. I'v got a busy few month ahead so am putting off buying a new laptop and the game until at least Aug.

Tell me how good it is when you get it

Isnt that that game where you spend real life money to buy ingame items? I've lost all faith in Blizzard as a games company. Its a shame, they used to make some pretty good games  :undecided:

You didn't have to by any means. I played it when I was like 14 odd so didn't have a chance to do this! It was only when I discovered online MP that it pays to have good kit. I spent a few spare sheets on it when I got a paper round. Probably the most addictive game ever.

Played D2 only last year when I found at the bottom of a pile of games in the cupboard, fooking loved D1 and D2 and the expansions !

I may be wrong but I think with this one there is a lot you can't do without spending real money, its their new way of combating gold sellers, not like the others where it was optional

what's it all about then? have you got to pay for a subscription or anything gay like that?

No you don't. Just the game. There is a single and multi player mode. Single player is a good learning point. Then multi player just makes you want more/better items for your characters. Inevitably if you are inpatient like me you will end up spending the odd dollar to get said item.

Heard good things so far, just waiting for a good enough laptop to play it  :undecided:

It doesn't need to be like that at all. I had a great time playing single player! Unless you want to be proper L33T then won't need to spend money!

I bought the game and to cut a long story short I can't even play on it!

Blizzard in their infinite wisdom decided that in order to play the game, even single player, you just have a contant internet connection.  Unfortunately as I'e moved house I've no broadband until mid June.  I can't even INSTALL the game.

So at the moment I'm the proud owner of a £40 paper weight

Come again? Your PC has to be turned on and hooked up to the internet 24/7. I do not get what you are saying  :undecided:

this is the way a lot of pc games are going nowadays, its to combat piracy. you must be connected to the internet to play so it can constantly check your game is registered and not a copy or something along those lines

Didn't know Blizzard are doing that too now. I know Ubisoft require you to be connected to the internet to play their games now, hence why I won't buy another of their games until/if they rethink their DRM.

It's ridiculous to expect people to be connected to the internet just to play a single player game. A connection drop at either end and you're stuck.

I can't even install the game either as it needs to download hefty amounts of data from the Internet and I'm currently on a 3G dongle!

Great game, even though the server had issues all weekend.
You dont need to buy anything for the game unless you want to be Scene, cant blame the game producers if folks will pay for special stuff rather than root around and find stuff in the odd dungeon here and there.
Still, all of this genre of games lack the brutal kill moves and blood lust I have become attached to.
Just like Skyrim, I dont think it will get past about 150 hours before I go back to something a little harder and more involving... we shall see.

Up to level 50 odd now, and its OK but majorly flawed..

I play a Wizard and spell damage is based off weapon damage not your skills. At the min, i'm running round with a 2h axe, cant get anywhere near enough damage with a wand!

Needs a HUGE update to include skill damage.

D2 was fcuking awesome, spent countless hours on that and made some serious money (for being a teenager) selling SOJ's on paypal

D2 LOD was junk, hated that, enigma equipped barbs

No mate had an account full of level 80's and used to run diablo with a full game of my own chars, used to get all the drops and usually something worth a SOJ every 5 runs or so..

Still a geek now

Finally playing it after owning it for over a month with no internet!!

Seems quite good, not sure how stats/skills are supposed to work though!!

Not sure what class your playing but basically your skill damage is a percentage increase over your weapons base damage..

Post by: bobbarley on 01 July 2012, 10:14
If doesn't seem to let me "choose" the skills I want, or where to put stats when I level up. Pretty restrictive?
Title: Re: Diablo 3
Post by: Dave_IOW on 01 July 2012, 10:21
There's an option you have to check in the menu, which allows you to put any skill in any slot, helps massively.

Changed abit since D2 bud, when you start cracking through it you will realise how the skill levels work, skills just become available when you reach the right level.

Not like D2 where you put all your points into hammers for Paladin etc.. The new system makes it so you don't have to re-roll, just adjust gear for a new build

Magician

I think I'm just being eager, the majority of the skills seems to emerge later on.

Level 21 now, wizard seems very powerful despite being somewhat of a melee character!
