Title: VW Golf Mk7 - Glow Coil, DPF, flat battery?
Post by: chowe on 13 January 2021, 12:05
Alright Team

New to the Golf club, the proud owner of a Lupo for quite a number of years and recently upgraded to a 17 Plate Golf Estate 2.0 TDI. Bought it at 32k miles, with full-service history from a VW garage.

Driven it quite a bit over the Christmas period, lots of long drives for work. Most recently, its started to develop some issues that I hope you can help with:

1. Diesel Particulate Filter light came on, fixed by driving at 31-75mph as per owners manual.
2. A few days -after Glow coil warning light flashing, paired with EM light.
3. Next day- Battery low/ Car refuses to start on the drive.

Error codes that I read:

P2456 - DPF Differential Pressure Sensor
P0299 - Turbocharger/Supercharger Underboost
P2456 - Circuit Intermittant/ Eratic

The dealership has come and picked it up this evening. Hoping the can have a gander.

Anyone with experience/ have a bat at what could be the issue?

Thinking sensor issue, but that doesnt explain the flat battery?

Cheers

Flat battery is quite common these days.

If your battery is 3 years or more old, it probably won't survive disuse over winter.

Get a new battery, clear the faults, make sure you drive it regularly.

And yes DPF's and the current "stay local" advice where you only drive to the supermarket once a week will almost certainly mean DPF clogging issues.

If you've been doing plenty of long journeys and still got the dpf warning then it could be just a sensor. Hopefully dealer will check status of the battery too 👍

Spot on, cheers.

The dealer has come back and said it was the sensor. Apparently, the battery issue is a result of the sensor malfunction (however unsure how that would be the case).
