Title: GTD Exhaust Trim Removal
Post by: rjwojcik on 19 June 2018, 19:50
Has anyone managed to remove their exhaust trims?  If so, how?  Not looking to chop off the pipes, just need to remove the trims.

TIA

Pretty sure they are welded onto the pipes, so you would need to cut though the welds then try and knock them off with a chisel or the like.

Thanks, not I wanted to hear but kinda what I suspected.  Now need to figure out if I can do this with it in situ or take the exhaust off.

Thanks.  Yeah, had a look and they're welded on.  I'm leaving them for now.

Typical

All that typing for an Essex boy and then he thinks he will 'leave it'!

Lesson learnt.

 Don't be down Mike, you gave some excellent advice, posting on here is for the benefit of not just the person you write for but for anyone else who reads it in the future.

Plus, if you re-read your own post, the op has actually followed your advice to the letter:

If they are welded on............you'd best forget it..........

The "Essex boy" dig though was rather rude and unnecessary and surely beneath a man of your intelligence

When I did the tail pipe conversion on mine the exhaust had to be removed, tips cut off and new ones put on.
