Well done mate. That's amazing progress. Can't wait to see the kit on the car and make it look all that closer to being finished.
Cheers, got most of it on today but had a late start due to other things getting in the way.. Was dark by the time I was halfway. Front took a long time, lots of new holes needed to be made due the new wing and I had issues as the front valance and N/S arch had lost their shape a little so sorted that with some heat treatment. Alignment was made a little easier as a mate turned up at the right time.
Excellent progress Shaun
Cheers Wayne
That's coming on mate, good effort and stick at it.
Just as a wee aside. You'll save yourself a fortune not going to Halfords for spray paint, find a paintshop trade supplier and wander in wearing your overalls, it's like £3/4 odds for 600ml tins of Bodyline stuff. It's good quality stuff as it's where the trade buy their stuff. I only just discovered a shop near me a wish I'd found them 10yrs ago
I know, I have done this all wrong.. I originally only bought a couple of cans for a test spray to see if it would work as temporary solution. I really liked the quality and the way it sprayed, I even looked on ebay for cheaper stuff and found some, just never bought it as I'd already gone too far with the Halfrauds stuff. As I was doing a bit at time over a couple of months I hadn't really noticed the cost, but I know it was way too much! I need to do another coat on the car so may do the right thing and get some cheaper stuff!
Solid work as always Shaun, coming along nicely
Thanks, it looks better in pictures!
ok so where are the finished pics then
Coming soon to a Golf forum near you!
Great progress
Can't wait to see it all fitted.
I haven't dared to even look at removing my bodykit
My N/S rear arch is damaged. I think it must have been scraped against a brick wall or something sometime in its 27 year past.
Seeing your photos and progress inspires me to get mine sorted one of these days
Do you not need a special flexible paint or additive when painting plastics?
Cheers Rich
Yeah you've mentioned your kit fear before... I was lucky but then it was spotless rust wise when I bought it... rear arches were going though after 6 years of living it rough but just salvable.. its worth checking, better to find and clean up a bit of rust than wait till it finds you!
The material is very easy to work with if you need to get rid of a scuff but filling is a pain in places!
Yes to the paint, Plastic primer and platic filler primer (yellow) where needed. top coat was normal Stain Black as used on the body.. it's surprising flexible.
looking good mate doing a good job
Thanks... on the outside i'm not, its a bit of a bodge now really. but at least I know its clean from rust, sealed and looks OK (from a distance!) untill I get it done properly... talk about doing things the hard way!
Great work looking forward to seeing it all fitted
Cheers, me too!
