Title: Castle Combe Friday 28th Oct
Post by: Paul86S2 on 30 October 2011, 19:49
We went to Castle Combe on Friday the track was damp and very greasy for the first half of the morning but dried out nicely afterwards.
Made a nice change to do a track day at Combe without too much traffic.
Had a lesson with Davenport Da Costa which was very enlightening. His comments were that we were braking too late and hard and loading up the front of the car too much, and wrestling with the steering too much. It was amazing how little steering you really need to do at some points of the circuit and how much easier it is when you get it right.
Only trouble with going to Combe is it makes you want to go straight back the next day.

You still haven't been to the 'ring have you?

Combe has nothing on that for addictiveness IMO.

Sounds like you had fun, DeCosta is a legend.

Just tucked my car up in a garage for the winter, hoping to get busy with it in the spring but all depends on how work pans out.

No still not been to the ring. Have been promising myself a trip for the last 5 years. I will get round to it one day.

Have you set a lap record round the IOW yet!

I must do some work on mine over Christmas if the weather is above freezing this year.

How's the new job working out? Hope it's all going well.

Yeah really well, currently working on a promotion which should see me getting the golf sorted, hopefully it'll pan out OK.
