As per the title has anybody ordered a MK7 Golf get?
-
No. Waiting to see what the performance offerings are first.
-
The top of the pile to begin with will be a GT/Sport with a 150PS 2.0 CR TDI. As well as performing slightly better than the current 140PS, it will only cost £20 to tax.
-
I'm sure now we've seen confirmed pics of the GTI peeps will sit and wait for that, then there be threads popping up all over the place saying "look what I've ordered"....
-
Time for a mk7 section mods!!
I could be tempted if I got a killer deal but will wait to see what the cost of the GTI with sport pack (assuming we get that option in the UK) runs to with essential extras as I reckon the spec won't be great as standard. And I want to see what the Leon mk3 comes out like too as I think it is prettier than the Golf but unsure of the interior.
I must be a car dealers dream as every 12 months I get itchy feet, spend 6 to 9 months working on decent deals and back round in a circle again!! VW you owe me big time!! Maybe it's time I grew up and turned to wine, women and playing the worlds most boring sport (golf)...
-
Just picked up my GiT from local dealer after some minor works and spoke to the sales guys there. They said that they have now stopped taking orders for all Mk6's (incl. GTi/R etc) and they are due to go over to view and test the Mk7 models next week, which should be available for sale in Nov/Dec. They estimate that the GTi/R etc versions would be available in a years time (approx).
They have had no orders in just yet neither. They are unanimous, however, stating that the exterior styling is very similar to the Mk6, so this may put some people off.....

My dealer says order books open (for normal models) in November.
You have to give VW-UK time to mess around with S-SE-Match-GT configs.
-
I'll be waiting for the GTD 4 motion...anyone know if my winter wheels and VW roof bars will fit a Mk7?!?!
Though by then I may need to get the long wheelbase golf known as a Passat Estate.
GTI is looking good on autocar so far.... http://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/2013-volkswagen-golf
why do they release it in France anyway...is it because it rivals the 308 GTI?!?!?!
-
The roof bars won't fit, not sure on the wheels yet as it has a wider track than the mk6 so may use the lower offset of the Scirocco/Passat
-
I'll be waiting for the GTD 4 motion...
I want. Any idea on dates?

Yeh in the interim i'd like a GTD 4 motion and then the R Diesel

Shown G7s use same offset and PDC as G6 so assume the gti, gtd and R will follow suite.

Plenty, but they are not for this thread!
I just have a hunch! ;-) not that one works in or around any automotive industries at all!! :lipsrsealed:
-
Here's a link to the 4motion model but not a GTD at this stage although if it's in the 2.0 TDI then its not a big leapt to the GTD
Also on offer in the new Golf will be VW’s 4Motion all wheel drive setup which is going to be an option on the 1.6 litre TDI BlueMotion or the 2.0 litre TDI BlueMotion with a manual ‘box.

Just got an e-mail from Drive the deal, to say that you can order the mark 7 through them.
Specced a diesel GT up with metallic paint, uprated nav, xenons and sunroof and other bits and bobs.
List 28K, discounted to 25K, which I didn't think was too bad.

Had the same email and was going to do a similar spec. Not bad 10% discount.
Lee - what would you expect a "standard" dealer discount to be? The same/10% or less/more
-
Oh discounts already. I'm liking that. I wonder if we'll get discounts on the GTI straight away.
-
The front end margin will probably be less on the GTI/GTD & R so I suspect the discount will be a lot less?

The configurator is now working on VW.UK (for normals models)

The configurator is now working on VW.UK (for normals models)
Not much in the way of options at the moment, the pro nav system is quite reasonably priced compared to the RNS510 at £1650 and the GT gets the "Donkey D!ck" style 18" option wheels that came on the Adidas edition!
It does seem to get quite a lot of equipment as standard though? (The GT that is)

£785 for Xenons is that std price or will it go up for the GTD/GTI ect ect?

It'd be nice if it stayed the same or even standard on the GTI/GTD considering some of the previously option only kit is now standard? Like nav and parking sensors etc.

I would expect much less discount than 10% at dealers as they will struggle will allocation like the early mk6's so they won't be desperate to take orders for cars they can't even order.
We are not going to be offering much if anything for quite a few months, the day to day customers we have are not comfortable buying anything online let alone a car so in most cases we don't need to compete.
Or if we did take any big discounted orders they would be far down the list on allocation and then a much lower px price. As you can bet your bottom dollar these online brokers will take order after order without actually being able to place it.

Thanks Lee

I've just configured a GT TDI DSG with 18's, xenons and winter pack and got a price of £26,745. I couldn't find an option for a sunroof .
I'm not sure I like the 18" wheel option, so would probably be better off putting the £710 towards a set of BBS's or similar.
I'm intending to buy a new car next year, so would I order this one? I don't think so. I'd have 2 cars that were more or less the same if I did, so I'm waiting to see what the GTD brings.

It's on the brochure and price list, but I still can't find it on the configurator. I've clicked on all the tabs in "Optional Extras" and it's not there.

Sorry, I thought you were on Drivethedeal.
Had a look on VW configurator and I can't find it either.

Another thing that is not on the configurator or any brochure, are these wheels. Anyone know if they are going to be an option?

Ya right they do look like 18" but that style is only available in 17"s. they look nice but then I like serron 18".

I'm trying to get a MK7 diesel something at the mo.....

I think these are the 19" Luxor option wheels - available in Germany but not sure if the UK will get them
-
Well thats just typical isn't it?
-
The good news is if 19" are an option at the GT level then it should be safe to assume there might be more of a choice on GTi etc? Or is that just wishful thinking?
-
19's are not an option here...yet? But xenons are on lower spec models, which they weren't on the Mk6. They are a more realistic price too, at £785.00. I would expect them to be standard on GTI's now.
-
My Mum ordered hers on 31st December, now confirmed as build Week 6 so should get it first week in March.
5 door 1.4 TSI SE, Xenons, parking sensors and mirror pack in Tungsten Silver.
I notice the Xenons are not adaptive any more, that explains the price decrease.
-
I'm just waiting on a quote for a 2.0 DSG SE, have had to add the £170 paddle shift option which has annoyed me slightly, why is this an option for DSG?.. Was it before on the 6? Also annoyed that front fogs are an option on the SE, too. I'd only want normal fogs which you can't have. Not keen on the corner assist cr@p... totally unnecessary and looks daft. Also not impressed that split climate is not standard on any model at all.
-
Dual zone climate not stock? That's weird about the paddles, don't think hat was the case on the mk6 mate.
-
Dual zone climate not stock? That's weird about the paddles, don't think hat was the case on the mk6 mate.
Dual climate was only ever standard on GTI/D and .:R on the Mk6. I'm pretty sure the same applies to paddles. I was in a Match 1.4 DSG, and that didn't have them.
-
Dubbers right the 2 zone climate was never standard on a mk6 apart from gtd/gti/r
Paddle shift like wise was not standard on any mk6 apart from gtd/gti/above but standard on mk7 gt ; )
99% of usual se customer I expect would not be bothered with the cost of making paddle shift standard.
Have you not thought seriously about the gt trim instead of se as you will get the fogs and paddle shift standard.
The GT like for like is £1450 more but you are putting £410 worth of options on the se.
So for another £1040 you will be getting much better seats, 17inch alloys, heat insulated tinted glass, sat nav, parking sensors front and rear, electric folding mirrors, Ambient lighting, Carpet mats, Led interior lighting.

its a company motor he is spec'in up

What Chuff said. :afro:
Thanks for the feedback and after looking again paddles do come standard on GT and if that's the same as how it was on the 6 then hey ho. However, they no longer put 2 zone in as standard on any of the TDI's at the moment, including the GT. Problem I have is that although the GT is on my list, I can't have it with DSG and it's something I've fancied and waited a long time to become available to me so the only way to get it is on an SE. Also, fitted Nav is never something that interests me as I personally don't think they're up to much in comparison to what you can get with a standalone.
The main reason I chose the Mazda 6 over the Golf 6 was because the best Golf I could get 4 years ago came with nothing, the Mazda came with everything, and then some. I couldn't even get steering wheel controls let alone anything else I expect to get from a 20k + hatch! The Mazda was big, looked more expensive than it was, had a Beefy motor, great handling (although a bit crashy at times) steering wheel controls that controlled everything, and I mean everything, including all of the auto climate functions for both sides, 17 inch alloys, a great stereo, blind spot monitoring, led rear lights, front projectors and fogs, a sh*t load of space a genius rear seat folding system and yada yada yada. Gave me very little trouble, too.
If the new Mazda 6 was available to me I'd consider it again. It won't be though until after I've ordered. It's probably a sign that I should get a mk7 to sit next to my Mk1, that's something that puts a smile on my face at least.
Nice car for a freeby mate
Yeah I sound like a right ungrateful g1t.

Mazda and Honda make good car there is no getting away from that and they come loaded with kit. However there is one area in both these makes that for me makes driving very tiresome and that is road roar both are shockingly loud VW's and most European makes of cars are just so much better at keeping the road roar compressed. I have treaded in my GTI fir a mark 7 SE with extras, In three years of ownership with the GTI have been completely trouble free

Couldn't agree with you more, sound deadening is a weak point. For example the Mazda 6 is on the same chassis as the Mondeo which is quieter and more comfortable. Japanese manufacturers prefer to go for light and nimble and it comes at price, a price I was wiling to pay at the time as the Pro's outweighed the cons.
After a lot of thinking It looks like I might be joining you on the SE front.

Ordered last week, just in time for the free service plan!
Ordered it from a dealer through carbuzz.co.uk. Saved £2,100 not including the service plan.
2.0 TDI SE 5 doors, Candy White, Winter Pack
Delivery predicted early April. Cannot wait!

How come so many people are going for the SE rather than the GT?
-
How come so many people are going for the SE rather than the GT?
Because the GT doesn't really offer much more that's of any use to anyone sensible, plus it's not within my company car budget to get it with DSG so settled for the SE. Not sure about anyone else.
-
How come so many people are going for the SE rather than the GT?
For me it was purly price. Get a GT with the options orderd it would cost more than a mark 6 GTI. SE models are well equiped like Auto Express wrote it’s the sweet spot in the range. With a panoramic sunroof , xenon lights and 18inch Vancouver’s with the Golf in white I think it will look quite smart from the outside. Personaly I also prefer the dash in aluminum as that is easier to keep clean than the black plastic of the GT model. Think I will keep mine for 2 years then change it for the GTD.
-
^^^ Couldn't spec mine up like you have, be nice to see what it looks like when you get it.

You will have a very nice Golf also as the SE spec is very good. Your also right in what you wrote that the SE is the sensible choice for the price Looking at the VW order site mine is being built so hope to be driving it in March. Will put up some photos when it comes.
