Strange for me to see the CS45 retailing at a higher price than the R!

Here in Ireland due to our vehicle registration taxes which are rested to C02 emissions, a base spec R (18s, no PP, no akra) costs €5k more than the CS45.

The list price is just written on the paperwork... Who's to say anyone might validate it...

If this is correct and I have no reason to believe it won’t be, one of the reasons I picked a car with no spec was for the whole reason it was under that 40k bracket, now it isn’t and going to cost me £355 extra per year. I didn’t go for the R because adding bits to make it look like the 45 would have pushed it way above the bracket. I will see what the dealer says, but I’m not over impressed TBH.

There’ll be more people get caught in this VED trap if the HM Govt doesn’t review and adjust the £40k luxury VED trigger point each year to allow for inflation. IMHO that’s unlikely as leaving it at £40k for a prolonged period is a way to generate additional VED revenue with car manufacturers increasing their list prices 2-3 times a year.

Well it’s been confirmed by VW the list price has gone up to the figures above. So anyone with a stock car they thought was under 40k is now not and incurs the £355 extra per year.

VW being greedy by increasing the price on the limited run car. By doing this screwing all those people who have them on order thinking they are under 40k and now not. Half of which have had delays to contend with and without those delays would be sat with a car now that is under.

Well result. After complaining to VW customer services they have agreed to pay my extra road tax at £355 a year for 4 years. Wasn’t expecting that, but it’s certainly a result.
