Broke my DSG box
« on: 31 July 2012, 22:35 »
I have broke my DSG gearbox

Rather than wheel spinning(like it does on normal roads) it seemed to grip more on the sticky tarmac an jerk & jump. I believe this did the damage.
The box worked ok chanching gears automatically but I had to force the very stiff gear shift.
I waited a week and booked into the local dealers, where fortunately after testing the box stuck in Park.
I now have a hire car (courtesey of VW) and am awaiting a newgear box...feeling very fortunate  :lipsrsealed:

That is lucky Ian

Have the dealer/VW confirmed that they will repair the gearbox or is it still being investigated?

One has been ordered so i'm assuming they're replacing it.

tbh... dealers will get paid for the work so they will only do as much as required to 'investigate'.

hope you get it back working correctly soon

Cleaned up and best of luck.

FYI I had this happen on my GTD following a similar experience - I simply ignored the "stiffness" and it went back to normal after about a week.

Did you have any other previous issues or did it just let go? Good luck with the replacement.
