Ok, its a bit late, but Welcome!

I know I am personally dead happy to see you here, I've read your Mk8 stuff elsewhere all over the internet.

You seem well connected... unlike the Mk8

Here is a silly question for you... What does NavPro give you over normal?

Nobody has managed to answer that, especially not vw.

Here is a little story about the Discovery Infotainment system in the Golf 8:
The First Golf 8 in 2019 came with the 5H0035816 which was only Discovery Pro.

Then on the 20/07/2020 The distinction between Discovery Pro and Media came to the Golf 8.
With the Discovery Pro the VW maps could be displayed on the Infotainment and AID display at the same time
But the Media could only display the maps on the infotainment display.
But both share the same control unit 5H0035816B which means that any difference between them is purely software restricted.
In fact it is possible to activate a coding in the Discovery Media Unit and enable the viewing of VW maps on both screens.
The 816B does not allow Wireless Android Auto.

Another change came on the 23/11/2020 (week build 48) and VW has decided to use 2 different units for The Pro 5H0035816D and the Media 5H0035820D. Now with the Media it is possible to View the VW maps on the AID display but not on both screens at the same time like the Pro. Also Wireless Android Auto is finally working with the D models.

There could be another change at the end of June , and if we keep on going we will run out of letters...

So the difference between NavPro and not is just the ability to display maps on the two screens at once....

Wow....sixteen hundred pounds for that, thanks VW.

I think maybe in other markets its to do also with bundling of online services, which are already bundled in the UK.

VW UK obviously didn't understand it either.
