Just following up on something I posted this morning on the Mk8 forum, what do you think is happening to prices for “good” 7.5 GTIs?

I don't think there will be much change, especially to low mileage 7.5s. As mentioned above they are still sought after and I think it will be the case more and more when rare low mileage ones become available in the future.

I just bought a 7.5 GTI PP a couple of months ago with 15k miles, 1 owner, full VWSH. Price was pretty high for a 4 year old car but I think the premium price of buying for a main dealer is definitely worth it with the 2 year warranty, they even had an offer on for 2 years free servicing so was happy with the deal.

Was looking at Autotrader everyday, then on a Saturday morning this appeared and phoned the dealer straight away, literally an hour after it went on sale on Autotrader, they sent a customised video and I then paid the reserve fee the same morning. Had to travel 3 hours the next day to take a look at it. But when I did go and confirmed the sale after the test drive, the salesman said they had two other phone calls on the same day they advertised it and one person wanted to pay the reserve. The demand on a one owner low mileage 7.5 is high and I think it's due to the combination of the reputation it has from all the reviewers and owners as many see it as peak GTI and also the lack of buttons in the 8 which is a deal breaker for some.

Incidentally, the Golf GTD TDI is currently running 4th in Motorway's "hottest cars" list, in terms of the price achieved over the initial valuation. BMW M4 Comp is top.

Is this hottest list public on their website?
Now = 2011 MK6 GTI - Reflex Silver
Past = 2006 MK5 GTI - Tornado Red and Solid Black

Not sure. It came as a graphic in a recent email notification from Motorway. I have pasted it below. However, looking at it again, it is a list of the 'ten best sales', rather than an average of numerous sales of a particular car. Gives an indication nonetheless.

2017 Mk 7.5 GTI, manual, black.

I've been monitoring the value of my 7.5 GTI closely on Motorway over the past month or so as I'm going to be looking to trade it in once my 8.5 arrives. I checked this morning and the price of it has risen by almost £200, this is the second time it has risen over the past couple of weeks which is interesting! It's very low mileage (16,000) and I'm the second owner. I think once the price increases happen towards the end of the year for the 8.5, the 7.5 used prices could rise further.

Yes, I started looking for a 7.5 Performance about 2 months ago and the good ones were flying out of the showrooms, especially from main dealers. I didn’t realise that performance cars are a bit like convertibles and the prices rise in the summer months, one dealer was telling me he could sell GTIs all day long, not so the yard full of ID3’s and ID5’s he had!!

Finally picked up my 7.5 GTi Performance last weekend and well happy with it.
2018 GTI Performance - White Silver
2018 Alltrack - Tornado Red
2019 Estate GT 1.5 - Indium Grey

If what you say is correct and they are still commanding strong money  would be tempted to put my own up

I think we're all in the same boat of wanting to change but there's nothing substantially better available on the market, without going into the next level price / running costs such as M3's.

I strangely find myself looking at Touaregs, X5s and XC60s a lot lately.
