not something you could really diagnose with vag com.. you want to get yourself a long bit of wire, take it from the +12v side of the battery, crimp a male spade connector onto it and then take out the fuel pump relay, you need to find the pin that goes direct to the fuel pump.. haynes should tell you this, if you havent got one, use a continuity tester..
when you have found the pin that goes directly to the fuel pump you want to push the spade connector into the pin.. if the pump runs straight away then its not the pump. if it takes a couple of tries then you probably need a new pump..
