wrong exhaust
« on: 04 December 2007, 23:05 »
i understand that the gti has a standard twin exit box, when i bought mine it has the worst single exit old exhaust on it. Would this be good for the car, or slowing it down, as its worse than the standard one? i dont really know how my car should sound, to know if it sounds right.

Apart from looking  and maybe being abit restrictive it wont do any harm, although its a good excuse for a stainless system

Indeed, the last owner (and owner from new!!!) was like a 50 year old lady, she had all the work done on it, no problems, but she replaced it with sh!t. It sounds awful. I will probably get a nice sports exhaust. Something sexy but not to chavy! :D

I now have a larger bore sport backbox and the only difference that makes is the car has more midrange pull (and less lower down ).... a single pipe outlet will restrict flow (not by much) and will reduce noise but wont effect power.
