wrong Mcgard locking stud code in my manual
« on: 01 June 2010, 04:32 »
Lost my Mcgard wheelstud key adapter thingy saturday(dont ask)....

I have the serial number on a printed card on an A4 sheet in the documentation. it says to bring this code to the Dealer to get a replacement.  but my local VW dealer couldn't make any sense out of the code printed on the card. The guy says the older part numbers are no longer in production or even on the system! its like an 8 or 10 digit number, he even showed me the stock system and we couldn't match anything.

Anyone ever have to replace a locknut using the code in the folder containing service/manual etc???
Plan B is to use one of those locknut remover tools. (i actually tried that already the one missing out of my mates set id the one i need)

Any help/advice appreciated. I could be screwed :(

sounds liek the code is for the shape of the lock key, and the dealer is expecting a VW part number.  with the mcgard they give you a 10 digit code which you can use to order a new locking key from mcgard, I think you should try contacting them directly
