Golf GTI PP MK7.5 DSG Revo Stage 1
« on: 17 August 2020, 12:44 »
Hello fellas,

Considering getting my 2018 Golf GTI PP DSG remapped with Revo Stage 1 software, I asked the garage and they quoted around 313bhp from 242bhp which sounds like unreal gains. Has anyone had experience with this, and  if so, any problems or more upgrades you did to supplement it.

Cheers in advance.

Hi mate,

The gains you can get from a simple stage 1 remap on these engines is really quite staggering - you won't be disappointed.

As for supporting mods, there isn't any required for stage 1 but things like a turbo inlet and a freer flowing air filter and removal of the snow guard (or induction kit) would help make the most of the gains. The only other thing a lot of people swear by (but I've not tried myself) is a pedal box, which improves the responsiveness of the engine. Don't know how well these integrate with a remap though.

You've got a DSG which removes the manual car's clutch (which is a known weak spot) so there shouldn't be any issues at all.

Hope that helps!

That is right, but will be on 99 ron fuel only. Also, the 7.5 PP runs more than 242 bhp stock, owners have seen up to 260 with a standard car.

Also - you might want to check out APR or Mountune. Both of these alternatives will also flash their own DSG map on, whereas I dont think Revo will. This will only compliment the stage 1 engine map to make the overall package even better.

Aye the whole clutch situation is the only thing I'm a little worried about, I mean I'm not one for ragging it about all the time, just some spirited driving every so often, wonder how much a remap reduces the clutch longevity by. Cheers for the response though, think I'll get booked up when I'm home from work. Also considering a miltek exhaust non res catback but not sure it would be worth it, would be nice to be a little louder though.

Looked at APR but I think I prefer the torque graph from Revo, probably has a little less strain on the clutch. What garages do 99RON? I know Tesco Momentum is, I usually top up using V-Power.

Why would you be worried about the clutch on a DSG? Incidentally I'm REVO stage 1 on my manual, no issues at all. Considering stage 2 now.

Also if you're using V-Power you're already on 99 RON fuel. Get it done, you won't believe the difference. Trust me.

I'm not worried as such, I know it's safer than with manual, was just curious if anyone had issues is all really. Ah sound then I'll keep rocking the V-Power. Yeah I'm excited for it now, 6 weeks until I'm home from work will get booked in with BTG Performance then, £700 but I'm sure it'll be worth it.

Top tip, keep an eye on the REVO Facebook page as they have discount offers every now and then. I got lucky with an offer coming up just after I bought my car, think I got 10 or 20% off. Can't remember now,  long time ago.

I recently purchased a GTI Performance too and wondering whether this Revo stage 1 tune is still held in high regard?

As I had my Mk3 Leon remapped with Shark stage 1 at Unit 18 in MK which made it a much nicer drive but gather that Shark are no longer trading, so now considering paying a visit to VAGtech.

BTW: I already fill up with ESSO Supreme 99 so guess that the SPS is unnecessary?

I had my MK7 PP DSG Revo stage one installed last year. ECU and TCU tune at Midland VW. I also purchased the SPS mainly for
anti theft but you also get the ability to switch maps. Since ownership (6 years now) V power only and if I remember rightly because of the V power its a 90+bhp gain. Not too bothered about a rolling road visit to get the exact increase.
The smile factor is off the scale..
