The ID.3 range really does need a shot in the arm.
Plus it has the worst brakes I’ve experienced since the mk1 GTI.

I happened upon a hire company dropping off a new Caddy van last week. The Caddy has had a strange makeover it seems.
What did impress me was the Skoda EV (begins with a K and about the size of an ID.4) they were using. Both inside and outside it was leagues ahead of the ID.3, a really decent effort from Skoda. Apparently it costs about the same as an ID.3 but is bigger.
Why the hell do so many people blindly get an ID.3? Is it just because it’s a free car from their employer that has some sort of kudos because it wears a VW badge?
I bet the Skoda also had the same awful brakes though.

It’s just one of those things we all dread happening. Unfortunate that it happened to you but as you say, it could have been worse. Fingers crossed you manage to get a prompt and high quality repair.

48k is just too much money to spend on a Golf in my view. I had a hard time trying to decide what to go for after selling my CS and in the end went for a R close to 37k.  A few years ago, I would never have dreamt spending that sort of money on a car.

The sensible option would have been an ev. Had a test drive in an ID3 but unfortunately i found it a bit dull hence another performance golf. Like a few others, I think this will be my last ice car.

Golf mk7 / Re: MK7 GTI won’t start….. can anyone HELP!

Trouble with the modern batteries is they give you very little warning before they just fail. The OEM is EFB but 100% worth upgrading to AGM and remember any new battery even exactly the same specs will need coding to the car so it charges properly.

Mine failed a few years ago and I got the one below....
Golf mk5 / Still on the hunt for an Edition 30
« Last post by Jeevanjs on 28 November 2021, 19:36 »
Hi guys,

I’ve been on the hunt for an Edition 30 for about a month now and still haven’t found the right one. I’ve viewed a fair amount and I kinda know what to look out for but it’s been hard finding the right one. If anyone is selling one or may want to sell theirs drop me a message and we can have a chat. I’ll consider anything, You can message me on 07885433755.

After 25 years of VW ownership we take delivery of a different brand soon and the wheels and tyres below are now surplus to requirements as they don't fit the new car. They have served extremely well very briefly on my Mk6 GTi and subsequently on my wife's 2 Golf Mk7 Rs. They 've only been used on three winters out of the 6 years I've owned them so can't have covered more than 4000 miles or so so they are in excellent condition. The alloys are perfect with no kerbing whatsoever and there is loads of tread on the tyres which were the top rated winter tyre at the time of purchase. I wanted to get these posted asap with the weather deteriorating  so I apologize that I haven't fully washed them but i will do that before sale. They are dry stored and covered all year in my parents' garage (where the photos were taken). On the worst winter (2018 or 2019?) they were absolutely fantastic in thick snow - the R just breezed around where there were other cars littering the roadways. I also live in a hilly area and again, they were fantastic and never had a problem. I'm just gutted they don't fit the new car so they may as well go to someone on here who can get the benefit from them. Come with all accessories as pictured in the last photo. £599 ono.

Oh no! I really feel for you Si. What a nightmare. That’s one for the insurance to sort I’m guessing(?)
How much damage did the car suffer all in?

What did I do to my mk8 today? Gave it a wash for the second time this week. Bloody hell it was cold.

Yesterday I gave it some slalom practice dodging branches blown all over the road at 5am. Safe to say it would pass the elk test quite well. The IQ lights never cease to impress me. Occasionally they don’t impress oncoming drivers though.

On Friday I discovered Pilot Sport 4S don’t corner at all in wet snow. The first snow I’ve seen since March 2018 and thankfully it was gone in under an hour.

Yeah mate just more frustrating that I haven't done it myself, just top of the bonnet dented in the middle about 6 inches and heavily scratched and couple blew onto alloys and chipped them two. Hit 3 cars in total but mine was the least of the damage
