GTD - Tank Range

Just wondering what you guys are getting out of a tank on your GTD manual or dsg? Might be more relevant than knowing mpg figures unless you never fill the tank of course!

My last tank netted 412 miles - not bad considering my Mk5 170 with the same driving style and a larger tank just scraped 500.

Duroo - what was your fill volume following those 412 miles? If it's something in the region of 45.8L/10 gallons, then that's 41mpg, I've never had to put more than 47L into mine, it seems to have about a gallon spare when the range in the MFD says "0 miles". It would seem as if your GTD is a little worse than your MK5: 88 more miles on an extra 5L in the tank. Assuming 45.8L gave you 412 miles and 50.8L gave you 500 miles, we're talking 45.1mpg, 10% better.

I generally get around 430 miles from a 10 gallon fill on average (43mpg, MFD says 44/45mpg for the tank).

Do theses tanks have expansion tanks and can they be filled?

I filled up yesterday with 35 miles left on the MFD, got 42 litres in and had nearly 400 miles on the trip clock. Fuelly tells me this equates 42.7 mpg. Considering my first fill up was closer to 36, I'm a bit more at ease now.

Hi Monkeyhanger - it prob was around that volume.
Range might be a little worse as I'm using all 181 horses now! :laugh:

I'm more than happy enough with the range, I'm off to Scotland in April will post my long range figure then.
When I took the Mk5 170 to Wales I managed to get a little over 600 miles from a tank.

lol as per normal, i'll bring up the lower end with my 340-400 miles per full tank :|  (Normally 360/370ish)

My first full tank was put in Wednesday night and range was down to 10 miles by Friday night and I had covered 450 odd miles. The further fill up was just over 45 litres.

Second fill today. So far ran it fairly easy and ranged between high 30's and 40's, but no long journeys.. First m'way run and tried an Eco mode high mpg attempt. V disappointing. 100 miles almost all m'way max 70 mph, 50 mpg. Same journey home but started in stop start traffic after footie game,  normal mode 42. Won't bother with Eco again, no idea where 67.3 mpg comes from...? Also refuelled at 30 mpg range and was surprised to brim tank at only 41 ltrs. Doesn't sound like range meter v accurate?
