Orion HCCA 50001?
« on: 21 March 2009, 21:54 »
anyone had a look at this yet? due for release mid april time 2009. even halfords are going to supply them, direct form armourauto tho, so wont be on the shelf obv.

looks agressive, seriously considering one of these powering two HCCA 15inches.

Looks suitably meaty, a mate runs the HCCA 15" sub and my impressions are that they are good value for money subs.  Lacking some finese but they can really belt out a bass line when pushed.

Only had limited experience with their amps so not in the best position to comment, theres no technical information available on the website and i can even find a pic with the fuses visible to take a guess at whether it can really put out that much.

2.5k through each 15" should keep you pretty happy (deaf) though

ive got the hcca 10" at the moment, running that of a 2400w max hcca amp. pretty happy with it but its not loud enough. a friend of mine hs the 15", i borrowed that for a while, plenty loud enough . so 2 15's should keep me happy lol

they do look pretty huge
its a bit pricey though
i agree with upfront84, you would become deaf fairly quickly with two of those 15" and that amp

LOL

Why do you wanna get to 150db!?  its not as big an achievement as it used to be, the big boys are hitting 170+

If you aim for a volume you may be dissapointed, build it up for the sound you want, with that much cone area and power it will be plenty loud enough.

I shall have to dig out some pics of the wall i built with 2 * RE XXX 18's with 2k each from SPL Dynamics amps - used to make my eyeballs vibrate when it hit a low tone!  The poor old Rover 416 didnt know what hit it.

I know, just really wanted to hit 150db. kind of a milestone for me.

oooh that sounds mental, what db was you hitting with that? and how did you power it battery-wise?

Never had it tested on a meter, it was set up for streetbass rather than competitions.

17 cuft enclosure, port tuned to 32hz

Will post some pics up over the weekend.
