ABS Light Reset
« on: 23 June 2024, 15:32 »
I'm doing some MOT work on my sister-in-laws car, a 2006 Golf 1.6l Plus FSI.

It had the ABS, Traction Control and ESP lights showing. A full scan found the o/s/f ABS sensor faulty, so replaced that and the wheel bearing which was rough. ESP light has when off but not the ABS and Traction Control. Scan show no other faults. and I haven deleted all stored faults.

Is there some sort of reset procedure for these lights or something I've not done?
Any help appreciated.

Colin.

I assume you have driven the car since the repair? they self check, so when the wheels are moving, the sensors noticed things are ok, the lights will go off...sorry if you knew this, but some people are not aware.

Hope that helps

Yes, took it for a short drive, not very far or fast, because it doesn't have a MOT!

I thought it would self detect, as the fault said the Sensor was not functioning/no signal but nothing changed.
Any idea how long a drive is needed?

It’s not normally far, few metres at around 10mph or so

Well done that and more several times.

All I can think to do is to take it for short drives over the next day or two. No point in doing the rest of the repairs until this is resolved.
