Golf mk7 / Underside Wing Mirror Casing
« Last post by jcrollie on Today at 10:58 »
Was clipped by a car several weeks ago on my offside wing mirror. Had to replace the turn signal and decided to make the best out of the situation by upgrading them to OSRAM and also got some oem quality Carbon wing mirror caps. Unfortunately I discovered whilst taking apart the wing mirror that several clips had been snapped off (presumably on impact) which basically keep the turn signal in place as it screws into them. Thought I'd get away without replacing the underside mirror casing as everything went together and was solid and it was too much of a hassle to replace. But now the turn signal doesn't seem to be sat properly in its place and the wing mirror cap isn't properly sitting so think it has to be done.

From my understanding it costs about £400 to get a replacement from VW. Does anyone know where I can source an OEM underside mirror casing (with hole for puddle lights) as to get to the part the entire door card has to be removed so the labour cost will be extortionate no doubt  Hoping to at least saving on the part.

MOT record is pretty good, just things that would need replacing on a low mileage 19 year old car, looks a clean example in the pictures.

Hello guys !!

Frenchy right across the Channel (in Britanny) here to maybe save you !

I am currently working on a solution to rebuild those pulleys by replacing the old rubber by polyurethane ;)

It's not done yet, but in a few weeks, i'll be able to tell you if it works and if you can do the same for yours !

You will have to ask me because this work need a special mold quite expensive and i'm paying for it ^^

Whilst discussing another matter with my local dealer in March this year I did ask about the Ed50 as the sales manager had literally just got back from the big event VW threw for dealers and sales staff in Wolfsburg.
They had been shown the Ed50 at the event but sworn to secrecy as far as spec and looks are concerned. What they were allowed to say was the model would be produced for the whole year of 2026 with no limitations to numbers. We can assume that some cars won’t be delivered until the following year going from that.
Obviously this was a while ago now so they had no idea on pricing or whether it would be exempt from sales promotions etc.

A GTI from an era when everything just seemed to work as it should and all the driver needed to do was get in and drive . No nannying driver aids or potentially troublesome software to contend with either.

I often thought it strange that VW supplied a bottle opener as the divider between the two cupholders in the centre console (I seem to remember the mk6 had one too); did VW encourage drinking alcohol consumption in the car in the noughties?

Hopefully the dealer will re-fit the rear wiper before sale; I’ve never understood the appeal of removing something designed to aid rearward visibility, but then I’m old and grumpy………..

I wonder as well, if you're looking for a 3-door, it might be one of the safer purchases you can make if it comes with the two year warranty
