Title: GTI garaged for 15 yrsonly 40000 miles
Post by: gadget7 on 26 March 2015, 20:05
Hi I have a 1986 MK1 Golf 1.8 GTI Convertible CC edition. It has been garaged for the last 15 yrs and I am in the process of getting MOT and back on the road for the summer. It has done only 40000 miles and is in great condition. I am not interested in selling the car but would like some idea of value for insurance purpose. could some one give me a rough idea? Many Thanks

book value my friend. the insurance aint bothered about true value as much as an enthusiast potential buyer is.

Thanks for the advice, it does make sense as far as insurance is concerned so I will go with that. I have another question regarding the car, It is a CC edition with the letters over the soft top and seat covers. I have read this stands for either CoCo channel or Christmas cabriolet. Does anyone have any idea what it stands for and maybe the story behind it.
Many Thanks!!

I would put money on it not being channel or Christmas, then again, I have lost money on less than that...

The CC as in Passat CC stands for Comfort Coupe. But I think that is just a Passat thing.

How much?

Strangely, VW weren't thinking about a mk1 Golf Comfort Coupe in 1985.... but a Christmas Cabrio made much more sense

I bow to your knowledge. Speechless.
