Hello you lot ...
Right I'm planning on leaving on Friday from the Brighton area at 4ish in the afternoon as that's the earliest we can leave (work and stuff), seeing as we're all trying to meet at the camp site / on route, but all seem to be leaving different times what contingency plans have we got to all meet up at some point?
Seeing as there's sooo many forum members hopefully going, and I'm assuming alot of new faces too, it's too good and opertunity to all get together - after all this is such a friendly forum why leave it at that when there's all of us in one place and plenty of stella to go around!!!
I'm not sure what to suggest - maybe we all post mobile numbers (not very safe I know), or organise a meeting point at a certain time and all go for a beer later in the evening ....
What do people think ??? Open to ideas too ...

Are you planning on going clockwise or acw on the M25? Not sure what time I'll be leaving yet, however I was hoping to leave a bit earlier than 4pm but then knowing me I'll probably end up running late.

David, I think Vix and her crew are travelling up on the Friday from the Crawley area..........you should definately be able to tie in with them if that is the case..........What are your plans Vix?

Anti-clockwise ... I'll be joining from the M23, so it's a shorter distance.
Just aquired a 'unofficial' copy of Autoroute 2004 if anyone wants some directions planned for them. Very nice piece of software ....

Rich - if your coming from Guildford then ACW is shorter for you too ... only 12 miles or so though.

To be precise I'm coming from a place called Yateley which is a little outside Guildford......just said Guildford as most people know it.
Could still go anti-clockwise I guess, however I'm sure it'll work out longer and there be a toll to pay at the Dartford crossing won't there?
David, can you try checking the route from GU46 6DU going both ways around the M25.........what do you come up with? If there isn't much in it I may do that as at the moment it strikes me that most are travelling from the South/South East of the M25

From GU46 6DU it's 146.4 miles clockwise and 152.3 anticlockwise, so other than the toll there's hardly anything in it. About 2hour 40 minutes driving at 'sensible' speeds and will cost about ?20 each way. (Told you it was clever : )
It's Friday afternoon though, so I'm not sure what's better Dartford tunnel traffic or Heathrow .... less speed camera's ACW though !

Plus you've got the 40mph roadworks that I have to negotiate everyday at Heathrow ::)

Rich if you can still make the A3 convoy we will be doing the M25 acw yes ?1 for dart, (thats fun in the LHD) but not as many speed camera's to anoy the road angel and it is a bit shorter from there.

Hi Sarah. Hazel isn't keen on coming to this one but she's promised (I've already bought the tickets) to come to VW Action. My brother in-law Ian is meant to be coming and has bought tickets but he starts a new job next week and is now not sure if he can come........so I may have a spare ticket for a full weekends show and camping available.....will let you know.
I may be bringing the Audi instead of the cabrio......not sure yet, will decide later next week.

Bring plenty of money (bargains galore), camera and I'd recommend bringing your own booze.......you can still sit in the campsite bar with it and it works out a lot cheaper than buying their weak lager.

With most of the trade stands its just like being in their shop so they will take card. For the autojumbles you will deffo need cash

I'm gettin v excited!! Will be the first time the mk1 been amungst other golfs so I'd like opinions on her. DOn't forget she was ?250 though!

anytime is good time, skivving work so will be polishing motor first thing, loading cases of smirnoff/absolut into boot (leaving enough room for a sleeping bag, mini barbq) then hitting the road.

I'm getting exited too now ;D Especially now that it looks like few of us are going to meet en-route. Would be good if we could tie in with G6dub's convoy (South region ClubGTI). They are meeting at Guildford at 2pm. Thats going to be too early for you isn't it David?

Fraid so - but if someone can 'strategically' park at the camp site and save me a place I'll only be an hour or so behind.
Has anyone thought to talk to the camping company and see if we can wangle anything??

That might help but you could always sleep in your car I have seen that a few times!
Yes I am a girl too and there is another sarah with us, so don't worry about that!
There should be around 13 or more of us before we even get to Guildford so the convoy looks to be a good one!
Half of our lot are going to the campsite and the rest to a hotel near by, maybe on the saturday night we will come up to the campsite to sample your bbq! (there was talk of ipswich town center) see if we can find the cost of a taxi from the hotel to there as think we will all be drinking by then!

David, when inserting a URL if you put it between the URL Yabb brackets, it keep it intact (2nd icon from the bottom left)

I use the A303 to get to Taunton, much shorter......my brother and his wife live there. M5/M4 seems a long way round.

303 is miles quicker!
I get from south london to exeter in 3 and a half going 303 onto m3.... :o
303's a wicked road on a clear day as well......hoof it all the way!

yeah it does.. the 303 is fun sometimes.. bought my car in basingstoke so with 10 mins was flying back home along the m3 :D
the roundabouts get annoying sometimes.. they should make the a303 dual lanes all the way. they're spending millions on the taunton junction soon to sort out a better link to that dodgy by pass by illminster :)

Yeah that Autoroute has a tendancey to choose Motorways over A roads ... they should have a option for 'Golf GTI Owner', we prefer A roads and they sure aren't any slower !! ;D ;D ;D

I have G6dub's mobile number and visa-versa........anyone else that is planning to come along, pm me your mobile number and I'll give you mine to help with tieing up.
Sorry David, I realise 2pm is too early for you, but it would be great to tie up with the ClubGTI convoy and I would say the timing is about right. We will make sure there is space for you at the campsite.

here it is marked as services, there is a Little chef and BP, on the A3 after Guildford it goes from 2 lanes into 3 and it is the last services before the M25
