Title: mk2 golf exhaust?

hey guys, could anyone tell me the difference between a 1.8 carb exhaust and a 1.8 gti exhaust? also what is the difference in the pre 87 gti and post 87 gti exhausts? cheers

hey cheers for the info h8v but it was more the difference in dimensions I was after(if there is any) im guessing the later gti one would be the best flowing one??? also does anyone know if klarius are decent exhausts? as in sound/fit/flow and longitivity?

I have a full custom powerflow exhaust Knocking around in my shed. Came off some guys 8v track car.

The 8v will have a 2 inch bore, 16v 2.25 inch bore. Carb models and very early GTI had a different downpipe held on by clips with a manifold to match.  If you want an 8v GTI exhaust, standard flows fairly well but make sure you get a decent brand like Bosal or Walker or even better, genuine if you can find one.

I was in gsf today and they have a bosal back box/unknown brand centre box and no front box :sad:. tempted to go for ss but its so darn expensive these days. reviews on jetex anyone? :smiley:

I think I have a gSf back box in my shed aswell as the custom powerflow. You can buy either off me if you want them.

The jetex fitment on my gl was shocking. Had to cut the mounts off and re attached for it to hang straight

cheers for the offer sgt but I would rather just source a brand new one locally. done a weld up on it for now so should do a couple months yet :grin:

yeah bosal and walker seem to be good makes but ideally I would like an Ernst like the one that's on it. as they sound nice and seem to last pretty well. my other mk2 has a genuine vw centre box with 1998 stamped on it so that's done well :shocked:. genuine would be pricey but they seem to last a long,long time.
