Yes, sublime balance, not sure, but did I even detect a slight tendency to oversteer, yee har     reminded me of a  group 4 Mk2 on slicks(im talking escorts not golfs )
Carrara white metallic or GT silver PDK for me, The option list is more than endless as you say, I spent over two hours at Silverstone Porsche, trying to decide, then got side tracked by the white GT3 in the used showroom, so before I had go go to the Men's room i decided to go and configure it at home....,must have spent the rest of the weekend on the Porsche site, add this and that remove that and them, jeez too many want bits for the budget ...lol  ooh that GT3(must buy more euro lotto tickets).

Close....but not metallic white

What have you started snoopy, it's the domino effect with all this Cayman envy

They make the R400, R420?, or whatever it ends up as, look like a Lego car.

At the end of the day mine will not be replacing a family car im still keeping my mk6 as my daily driver/commuter/winter car. The cayman will be a fine weather weekend and summer use commuter car.
I tried many far faster cars but as I rearly use the 210bhp of the GTI I could never see me using 550bhp+
A R420 sounds ok in theory but I just simply would not use its power. I find 4WD boring.  I also bet real world mpg will be terrible in it.
The cayman made me smile at reasonable speeds and had more than enough power to be fun. 0-60 and POWER! Isn't everything imo.
I'm sure the R420 will attract the boy/girl racer and attact the Ford/Vauxhall/Renault crowd to VW I wish VW all the best with it. To me the mk7 had started the move to this crowd with its neon lights and glitzy bits. Something the GTIs never had in its history until now unlike its rivals. This imo is changing the VW sport models demographic which seems true reading GTI & R forums. I keep thinking of the old GTI advert from the 80s with a red Mk2 GTI sitting at the lights next to a white Astra GTE16V the asta owner gripping the wheel wanting a race unlike the GTI driver. I feel its now the GTI/R/R420 owner IS the astra driver :(

I totally get where you are coming from Snoopy, I'd done a track day in the R before heading down to Silverstone, the R was phenomenal on the sprint track but a brute and not pin sharp accurate, sort of mini GTR but the Porsche just felt delicate and intimate but not as quick but that wasn't the point

I do not see a R420 as a daily driver sort of car

I agree with this and think it's a shame.  It's evident on the R forum especially. I fear for the VW sports model future and hope VW wake up to the fact before it's too late.  It's also very much going the way of attracting the 'must have the latest thing' crowd, with little in the way of loyalty and appreciation of the brand heritage.

I haven't bothered registering and not sure I will, even when I've got my R.  I look at it now and then but usually only if there's a particular bit of info I'm after.

Very nice, albeit with too many pedals

Have you let it park itself yet?
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.
