All it will take to save face on the teams side will be a slight change to the new rules. The statments they all put out basically said they would leave if there was a 2 tier system ( gone now) or the £40 k budget cap was to be done in it's current form.
A few tweaks here and there to the original £40k plan and the teams will be able to say that enough was done to make them happy.

The amount of money it would cost the teams to pull out and close next year is huge , redundency payouts alone would be horrific , hence Honda basically giving the team to Brawn this year.

Could be some good drivers in new teams tho' , I don't know who'd stay or who'd retire.

Massa
Raikonnen
Trulli
Glock
Vettel
Webber
Alonso
Piquet ( probs sacked before than anyway)
Buemi
Bourdais

would all be looking for work.

the FIA are bum lovers  and have to much time for makeing crap rules.  F1  should only be restricted by technology.

imo the rules should be.   2ltr engine unlimuted tweeks.
that the car fits in a box of a preset size painted on the floor.
each car must compltly wear out at least one set of tyers per race
to be allowed to enter they must be abel to lap the ring within  a certan time

that would make it more intresting
all the VW's have gone bar 1.

I agree that F1 should be pioneering the technology. I keep hearing that the 1993 williams was and still is the most technically advanced F1 car ever made. That's like 16 years ago! Jeez.

hamilton did shed loads of overtaking in the last few races. I think the Kers system would be great if they can make the power to weight ratio better.

I agree driving the monaco circuit on a computer game is really good fun but watching it live on the telly is a bit boring. I remember Coulthard in the dominant mclaren (1998 or 1999 not sure) being stuck behind a slow arrows driven by de la rosa for most of the race. at the time the mclaren was the fastest macine on the grid and the arrows being one of the slowest.
