Got the tracking and camber done.

A saga that took from 9:30 this morning until 3:00 this afternoon, 2 new track rod ends and a new CV boot. (The fitter burned the old one with the torch trying to free the track rod, so that was replaced FOC).

In the end they fitted the track rod ends for £5 each. I supplied them from ECP - £10.30 something. All up a saving of £35 on the quote they gave me for those. And a big saving on the 1 1/2 hours it took him to replace the CV boot and track rod ends.

While i was waiting I surfed the stock in Cash Converters and found a Kenwood head unit for £17. Bought and fitted with a bit of mucking about (the right rear speaker wires were cut for some reason). The old, knackered silver monstrosity that came out was binned.

Also met 2 new Golf owners. 1 with a Mk1 pickup that was having a few bits done for the MOT and 1 with a Mk4 25th Anniversary GTi that looked very nice. Both top blokes.

A good day for me and my GTi.

If anyone says replacing the thermostat on an AGG is easy or simple they have ramps... On axle stands it's a pig of a job. Still, a tick in the box of stuff to be done.

The coolant that dropped out was clean but I replaced it anyway so that's good for probably longer than the body will last now.

Also adjusted the rear wheel bearings and that got rid of the slight drone above 60. Still planning to renew them as they weren't that loose but they can go down the priority list now.
