502/505 oils may be used for the Time/Distance regime.
504/507 oils may be used for both Time/Distance and LongLife regimes.
And 504/507 oils are better for FSI/TSI/TDI engines, irrespective of regime, so go with the latter.

yes 5-30 fully synthetic,
Phil , so I can use any oil as long as its 5-30 ?
-
use long life oil for both t&d and long life

The stuff the dealers use and most independents I believe is Castrol 5-30 and is fully synthetic. Obviously you could try another brand but I think that is pretty much the best there is available. Important thing is regardless of what service plan you are on you use the same stuff, the independent garage I visited also used the same oils.c

During the warranty period, you must use oil that has been approved to either 502 or 504/507. Brand and viscosity are secondary considerations.
Almost all major lubricant manufacturers offer a VW approved 504/507 oil, so I'd imagine they aren't too hard to find on the shelves.

I have a service plan which is T+D , just didn't want mix the oil's, i'm going to use 5-30 as a top up then!

5w30 refers to the viscosity of the oil, but nothing else. There is much more to the 504/507 spec oils than just the viscosity rating. In particlar you'll want to use a 507 approved oil to protect your DPF (assuming we are talking about a diesel).
For example, Shell Helix Ultra Extra is 504/507 approved, but other 5W30 Helix Ultra oils aren't.
Whether the car is set to time and distance or longlife is largely irrelevant as far as the choice of oil goes.

Mac I know your the man in the know around this stuff , please tell me what oil I need to top with mate ? I'm confused now

Look only for the 504.00/507.00 VW approval. When you see that written on the side of the can, it'll be the one you want.
