Oh very unfortunate

TBH you might be as well to bite the bullet and take it to the dealers. May not be cheap, but get it fixed properly. You don’t want leaks etc down the road.

I’m trying to visualize how side opening doors hit the sunroof though? It’s not a roller door no?

(I’ve been in erwin and downloaded everything I think I might need, but it’s not the clearest for me and think may need to get it calibrated even if I get it back together)

Any advice appreciated, apart from close the roof before putting the car in the garage….

Apparently only 1,974 units will be produced globally, according to this video, wonder how accurate that is.

That's AI sh!tty video.

Model will not be limited to numbers of units but to some time period.

HELP!

I was reversing my car into the garage with the roof open, and a part of the door mechanism (barn style two side opening doors) got caught underneath the glass and BANG - I’ve managed to break something and pull the glass roof out of the tracks and it’s twisted. The glass itself is not visibly damaged. I found a broken bit of plastic from don’t know where and the guides/runners may be bent. On one side the glass slides forward and back a bit, but not on the other.

I’ve been looking for a guide/instructions for how it should look / how to remove the glass to see if I can do anything to get it all back in place but no luck. Does anyone have any manuals/guides?

It seems different from mk7 but I assume it would have the same general principles of some sort of frame being bonded to the glass and that frame then being attached to the runners/mechanism. There are some star/torque headed screws that look tempting to try if I can get to them but don’t want to do it blind if I can help it.

For now I’ve put it in the garage with it as is.

Am gutted, have had the car since March 23, after ordering in April 21, and only issues I’ve had are some electrical gremlins to do with front asssit (seem to have mostly gone after dealer did something) and the rear badge has some blistering or something) and a puncture.

Brush on the VW touch up paint is like a budgie’s head

The last three characters of VW part numbers can sometimes - but not always - be the paint code. The part number for Reifnitz alloys is 5G0601025EB Z98 and based on the above, Z98 ought to be the paint code. However, a search on ‘VW paint code Z98’ returns the colour Heron Grey which is a Porsche colour and a very light grey (almost white with a hint of grey) from the early 1960’s, so clearly it’s not the paint code for Reifnitz alloys.

If you’re wanting to buy a touch up paint pen to repair minor stone chips on your alloys, I’d be inclined to just get a universal, non VW-specific matte black touch up pen; it’ll probably be a close enough match even if it’s not exactly the same shade of black. I had some VW anthracite coloured alloys on a couple of previous VW’s I’ve owned. I couldn’t find the correct VW paint colour to repair a few small stone chips so ended up buying a BMW colour that was a close match. No one would notice the very slight colour mis-match and it was close enough not to bother me, and I'm pretty anal about things like that.

I’d be sure to get a pen with one of the hollow needle / nib type applicators on top of the cap, as it’s possible apply paint into stone chips with much greater precision with a needle / nib than it is with VW touch up paint pens. The VW pens always used to have an ‘oversized’ brush inside the cap (I’m assuming they still do), and for most minor paint touch up jobs you’d often end up with an unsightly paint blob if you used the brush.

I haven't checked all the links above, but there are some decent photos of the interior in this Autocar piece:

"VW has yet to confirm prices nor how many units will be built, but it is understood to be a limited-run model, and prices are expected to start around £45,000. UK order books are due to open towards the end of this year, with first right-hand-drive deliveries in early 2026"

Would anyone know the VW paint code for the matt black paint used for the Reifnitz alloy wheel? Can’t locate anything on line. Thanks.

The red wheels (basically just the existing Queenstown wheels with red substituted for the diamond cut) are absolutely awful imo. Straight into the bin they'd go!

Some of the other touches are dreadful too imo, such as the half-assed spoiler sticker and the red pedals. Even the steering wheel looks not to my taste, the nice brushed silver effect replaced by dark grey/black, very "R black edition" style and NOT GTI imo. Anyone notice in the pics that the usual LHD aluminium dead pedal is missing? Oh no! Some idiot decided that the pedals should be painted red, but forgot about the aluminium dead pedal. So they've left it out.

It really feels like they've let some 21 year old intern loose with the VW credit card on Temu.com. Shocking.

On the positive side, I like the seats (albeit the same seats as the standard car with different fabric). And I like that they've brought back tornado red, because I've never liked kings red (old man's burgundy wine does not work on a GTI). And that new green looks interesting.

It also seems likely that the arka exhaust will not be standard, which is a step backwards from the 45. So you're kinda forced to spec the performance pack, which has the bonus of dodging those awful clown-show wheels, but at a significant extra cost.

Overall, yes I'd love one. Of course. But honestly, it's a lazy enough effort and exactly what I expected. I didn't quite expect them to go so far into the Temu shopping trolley though.

A couple of more interesting things I've noticed:

- no GTI door badge. Clearly they decided this was a crap idea

- nowhere in the blurb does it mention "Clubsport". It's just GTI 50.
