Great post & detail, it helped me alot, so thanks!

I just want to add one thing, the pump was extremely difficult to get out of the tank!

So I used a strap socket with a 4inch extension, turned anti-clockwise and out it popped. :-)

Much help, Was struggling to get the fuel pump, Brought that tool popped straight out :)

very nice write up

my son has just got a Mk3 1.4 (yeh 1.4...i know but he needs cheap insurance)
the fuel pump is playing up & blowing the 20A fuse ,no short circuits to earth
seems its drawing too much current, but can't decide if the pump is going home
... or maybe the fuel filter is blocked causing the excessive loading of the pump

anyone had similar symptoms ?
