General discussion / Vw specialist garage birmingham
« Last post by navmk4gti on 17 June 2024, 22:30 »
Elo all

I am looking for a good vw specialist garage around birmingham. My 2 years free servicing is up with my vw and there prices are crazy for just a basic oil change.

Any suggestions. Thanks

I am over 100k miles in mine (2010) and still no noises and phase difference still well within tolerance. Owned from new and oil  changes every 6 months. Worth  changing if history not clear though.

Just adding this here - just bought a 2010 MK6 Golf GTI, with 38,000 miles on the clock. Its running lovely, no strange noises on startup but I have been phoning around local garages to get estimates on changing the timing chain and tensioner.

Hi all

Thanks to the admin(s) for allowing me to join - I've just bought (last Friday) a MK6 Golf GTI (2010, registered in 2013) and as I am new to GTI's, I thought it would be good to join this group.

Just over 38,000 miles on the clock (Japanese Import) I am currently trying to get a local garage to swap out the timing chain and tensioner (its currently running lovely, no funny noises on start up etc) but the first few I tried have said 'No thanks, too much work / too complex.' So still looking. Its a fantastic 'proper' car though, and its goes like nothing else I have driven (maybe a Skoda Octavia VRS, but never got that on the motorway).

Cheers.

Many of us will have had the Corgi Batman car - The Batmobile- as a youngster.   Originals and Restorations can be quite dear……but are a must have.
So a repro might help out for display purposes and for those who can’t look without touching and fiddling! Haha.
Have a look….I’ve pre-ordered, having bought replica James Bood Aston Martin #261 from here too .

This is the route I ended up going down - very simple and blatantly taken from another VW thread I read when doing some further reading.

I had a few wide cable ties which rather than cut I just tucked in the next bonnet gap - stupidly simple and it now sits nice and flat.

Looking good 😎😎
Certainly an improvement, I think the previous owner had been washing it with sandpaper
