Title: This is what Professional Detailing can actually achieve
Post by: Mike J on 06 November 2016, 08:59
Golf Mk 7.

The Process
Following PDI and plating the car was left untouched by the dealers following my express request, I had told them I would refuse the car if the plates were drilled or any transport packing was removed!
This was the first time they had ever been told to do this in over 1000 new Golfs.
Before driving I removed the labels off the windscreen and film off the steering wheel and gear knob for safety and then I drove it the eight miles to Tim Bomford of Envy Detailing in Gosport (Hants) for my mid morning appointment.
I collected the car mid afternoon two days later and returned to the dealers to complete the handover process.

At the dealers I parked the car infront of the main showroom (Exec. stand) and you only have to look at the photographs to see the staggering difference between the dealer prepared cars and what a dedicated Professional can acheive.

Was I chuffed, no I was over the moon!!

Thank you Tim for all your superb professionalism it was worth every penny, and to Booth for your patience and assistance with the image transfers.

That certainly looks good Mike. Now you just have to maintain it! Well worth all the effort though.

Car is looking stunning Mike.  Well worth having done.  Get few basic maintenance kit set up (see your other thread) and it should be easy to keep in top of.

Hi All,
Well after a couple of months from new I actually decided to try (consider is more like) cleaning it myself......

So referencing Booth 11's advice I gave Tim at Envy Detailing to arrange to collect the materials I would need. Buckets, mitts, water (what COLD water in winter OMG) special towels, various coloured stuff in bottles, more stuff for the alloys, oh noooooooo!!!

Suffice to say I took the car down to Envy on Monday morning and spent a pleasent couple of hours chating to Tim while he cleaned it for me
Cheap at twice the price.

Now she is as good as new and nothing less than she deserves.

Sorry, but not exactly detailing, more how nice it is to drive a sparklingly clean car!

Posting pics of your washed/detailed car is frowned upon.

Sorry Watts.
No piccies, but you have my assurance the result was identical to the intial photographs.

Down South if someone says they have done something, then we accept it until proved otherwise.
I am prepared to accept it may be different in London but these days London is just a name on a signpost and somewhere to be avoided at all costs.

PS I haven't driven inside the M25 since it was opened (yes really).

Blimey Mike, I'll have to assume that was tongue in cheek as if not it was a pretty weird response!

Sorry, no offence meant.

But it was you who posted "pictures please or it never happened"

My post was what I would have said if we were standing together.

By way of an explanation.
From the outside looking in, London seems to be a very unruly place, full of people who cannot be trusted. Every person I have met or know personally who live in London have all suffered from criminal activity firsthand which makes them very distrustful of everyone they meet.
You live in London and said "it never happened"

Robert Burns once wrote "to see ourselves as others see us"
Thus Im prepared to accept that living 'in the sticks' may make me seem a bit weird to someone from a city.

Update;
My car is now dirty again

Mike - the use of emoticons is to add the tone to a message hence why I used a  after the text in my post. I didn't really think you were lying about your car! It would just have been good to see the fruits of the labour.

Your views on London and Londoners is a bit odd though. Yes there is crime in London, just like there will be in any large town or city. The population of London is about 8.5 million, bound to be the odd criminal in there - having said that though, most of the crime is commited by people from the sticks travelling in  (note the use of the wink).

I've come to realise recently that the use of any kind of banter or light hearted piss taking is completely wasted on this forum.
Everything is taken literally and appears to offend people

I take offence that you are driving the car I wanted to get

Seeing as I'm new here I better say that that was banter

Why have you ordered a GTD when you want a GTI may I ask?

Not everyone is going to understand or want to partake in a bit of banter. I'd agree though that the forum in general seems more sober these days. Problem is with all these owners of dull grey cars - reflects their personalities      (thought that lot should cover it but just in case, I'm emigrating and not saying where, so ).

I think there should be a weeks ban from the forum for excessive use of emoji           :lipsrsealed:  :undecided:

Your wish.......

You are hereby banned from the detailing section for 1 week for excessive use of emoji. And for not mixing them up out of sequence, that's just plain laziness.

Joking of course.  I think a bit of lighthearted banter is a must on forums to stop people disappearing up their own proverbials.  But I guess even with the odd emoji thrown in it can sometimes get lost in translation on the internet, and some people seem to frown on it completely. :undecided:

From 21st December until March 14th I never touched it except to clean the wing mirrors.

15th March I had the car cleaned again!
Tim at Envy Detailing said it was the dirtiest car he had ever cleaned

It was simply amazing to watch the snow foam slide off the bodywork revealing a bright clean suface beneath, the wonders of modern products eh?

Mind you after 3months on offroad tracks and puddles since its last clean I was very pleased it came up so well, Tim had assurred me it would but you've always got your doubts.
Tim also pointed out a couple of scrapes caused by me pushing past sticky-out twigs but they were so slight if he hadn't shown me I would never have known they were there.

It looked a real picture until the last rain which dumped dust and blots all over which look dreadful in our recent sunshine

So when time allows its back to Gosport and another cup of coffee

I've got a mate who only lets Tim at Envy near his car for detailing! Top man by all accounts!

Couldnt agree more!
Im not a car cleaner, usually it was once a year or even less with all my other cars.
Advice on here guided me to Tim and he had it untouched by human hand direct from the dealers.
Now, like your friend, he is the only person who touches it.
Top man indeed.
