best bet is to have a decent alarm fitted. that'll mean you loose the annoying key you have to put in and it'll protect better. most alarms can 'jack' into the central locking so they open when you disarm.

I reconmend the ?500 price tag on some alarms as it's a lot better than your pride and joy going walkies.

cat1 are normal best to have in terms of cost and features..... clifford concept 300 is about?300 - ?400 and is very good also has shock sensor which most cat1's dont have!.

toad do the A51cl and C2 WITH C.D.L  both are near the ?200 mark....meta do the m928 alarm and immobiliser for ?179.99 from microtechnics
here the microtechnics ad from there site

ALARM/IMMOBILISER Meta M928
Inc 2 remotes with panic button, ultra sonics-glass-bonnet-boot doors protected. Flashing LED hazards 128db siren. Modular design, not ins approved. Fully fitted ?149.99

ALARM/IMMOBILISER Meta M928 delux
As above+central locking and t/c control. Fully fitted ?179.99

microtecnics fitted a meta to my neighbours car and its never give any trouble!
so i had a toad fitted to my escort in 1999 4 months after my neighbour had his alarm fitted and he's still got the same car with the meta on it!!! that was 5 years ago.........
microtechnics operate in the midlands and can be found in the yellow pages or on there website
microtechnics-alarms.co.uk

for a fitted alarm / immobiliser with central locking control for under ?200 meta are pretty good........

like i say microtechnics are not the only dealers / fitters but if your after a good cheap alarm fitted theses are the guys to speak to........if you live in the midlands give them a ring and tell them your needs...
clifford do alarm and immobiliser but there from ?250.

if your after a cat 1 then there normaly all the same all the same features all between ?300 - ?400......some even more......if your getting a cat 1 then i would have the concept 300!
