Thankfully the box has been replaced, no quibble.
It was siezed initially then eased slightly after a couple of days.
I was told I could be in for quite a wait while the new box arrived but came the next day. Hire car returned and GTI back on the road
I now over-shoot the selector with the very easy/smooth DSG box........lesson learn't. I've since treat my car to a super resin auto glym polish and getting some TLC

Out of interest you guys that are having dsg problems, do you use the paddle shift a lot?

My sisters other half who used to work at Audi said most people who drive hard predominately using the paddle shift will run into problems. He reckons their not designed for constant use. One of their customers who only used paddle shift got through two gear boxes in under 30k.

Did something similar happen to yours?
Do you think its it's the extra power and force on the gearbox?

A few years back, quite a few now I did hear dsg reference from a group of Audi/vw techs as standing for disaster struck gearbox and doesn't select gearsbox
