well it was the passenger side one, which i recently swapped for a MK4 item (i think they are of a poor quality compared to older mk3 GTI ones

i did notice for a while some grease splattering (tiny) we think the CV joint was worn... and the power has just killed it off

My old GTI one is now back on, inspected it prior to fitment and no play in either of the joints, see how it goes

The older the stronger eh?

What's the alternative if that doesn't hold out?

Just hear and see a lot of mk4 cars snapping shafts
Seems the newer they get the more corners are cut with cars these days

And I dunno.. Keep a good stock of drive shafts I guess

My gearbox mount bracket snapped in half last week, engine got some gangster lean on.
Happened 10 mins before we were gonna set of for VWAction :/

Anyways,  i'm interested in what engine mounts you run, and if you are gonna strengthen any mount brackets in urs now you have got more power.

The mount that takes most punishment is driver side rear and this is what Iv had strengthened
Look back through my pics

I'd say your issue is due to a faulty or old mount with too much movement

I always like to replace mounts With new engines

Had a issue with the tarmac, sump survived just the plating i had welded on now has a huge dent in it

engine mount braket didn't survive,

seems it had a weak point which iv now had re designed and subject to a strength test at Sulzer Pumps (Leeds) where the head engineer modified the Bracket for me (he is a engine builder type)

here is the new type mount still retains the needed clearance for the bigger Turbo i have fitted and the downpipes which make a normal mount bracket non useable

finished off and painted up

looks OEM

Also fitted the 2.0TFSI coilpacks out of the newer S3's etc as they are more reliable especially on a Bigger turboed 1.8T car. can also run a bigger Gap on the spark plug

Had to use adapters to fit them as they are around 14mm taler than the normal 1.8T coil packs

Lastly i finally fitted my Annie gear knob to my MK4 shifter, and cut down the shaft some more
Big Shouts to  my mate and all round top dude Junior (MJ INTERIORS) for kindly  Retrimming the leather on the top half of the ball for me Free of charge
