The car went to the dreaded VW dealership today as it is the only place that can do the Alignment correctly and to spec.. (car too low and people cutting corners is the main reasons iv chosen to go with VW)

I have a contact who is a tech their so he did the work and made sure that he and only him even went near the car

He did an amazing job..

re aligned the Steering column to the steering rack as per original factory settings (new one to me)
checked all 4 wheels, fronts were spot on (how lucky was i when fitting the coil overs) but tracking was a mile out (just fitted new ball joints and steering rack gaiters so was expected)

Rear beam was also out, probably down to fact iv had that off the car to polly bush

Car is just fantastic to drive now, took him 4 hours to do the work..

car came back to me just how i left it..  top marks for VW Leeds Dealership

Even sent me a cheeky picture of the in process work

Next up is fitting the MTM Turbo set up and strengthened Con rods... this will commence next weekend after fuelled society show

MTM? Sweet! You say ED38? Hope to see you there, load of us go up from Plymouth :)

Its amazing what a full alignment check can do, totally transforms cars if its way out. Spot on! A friend was telling about the rear beam situation on his Mk3 R32, straighten his rear beam and made such a difference. I think mine is slightly out and with boost you notice it more I would think, on/off throttle is a bit more aggresive.

I need to get on it, usually do tracking and camber myself. Not the best but better than getting it done anywhere. I'm in the same boat as you, don't trust any monkey garages around me, even if they have super expensive alignment machines they have given me nothing but problems and robbed me blind! Plus I'm always tinkering and can't afford to keep paying for it to be done.

So MTM all sorted by ED38???

yeah mate hear you totally, was hard for me to let the car go through a dealership, only did it because of the contact i have

Tried to book it in to porsche before that and they said they were not aloud to work on the car as its a VW!

yeah MTM kit on next weekend, will take a few extra days to then get the downpipe modified and then it needs to go back to be custom mapped (prefer to rather than use MTM map)

the Turbo is a Audi RS2 Hybrid, good for unto 360HP.. so should see decent results from it

Sick, must be stoked! Hahaha, that's justs bragging rights for alignment at Porsche! But I bet they would do a good job to be fair.

So not expecting any extra lag on that? And I guess being a hybrid, its like Hovis 50/50 - best of both! torque-y bottom end and more top?

I'm sure that'll be changing soon seeing as VW have just taken fully ownership of Porsche.
