kells why don't you try the gearbox out first? its a lot of money to be spending to decide you want different ratios!

Those ratios won't work well on that engine. Would be good for a mk2/mk3 16v to make it more lively. But not for a high torque turbo motor.

yeah i may swell keep the 16v gearbox over the new one if this was the case

having the MK4 box on the bench is great, i can rebuild it and just swap out for my old box without having the car off the road

plus the Mk4 boxes are stronger

Cheers to russ for the help on this.. i was going to sell this mk4 box..which is a good one as it was in my dads mk4 from brand new when he bought it.. never had a hard life... will have soon hahsa.. joking

Good work again mate,

I saw a number plate the other day and instantly thought of you, 'S3 BAM'  :smug: it was on a ford tho

Not sure what size my breaks are, how do I find out? also how much do you want for the brakes?

You've got a late mk3 stow, so yours are better than those at 288mm.
Classic Green Corrado VR6 Storm | Jetex Cat back | BMC CDA | VT mounts | Bilstein B12 | 288mm front brakes | Mk4 rear brakes | Goodridge braided hoses | BBS RX228s | Shortshifter | Lupo wipers | Uprated headlight loom | All red rears | Refreshed leather | Fresh paint |

Today i fitted my Audi S3 brake set up.

312mm discs.

As updates previously iv refurbished these to a high standard :-)

the upgrade is needed due to the bad smoking I'm getting from the  280mm set up (early MK3 GTI set up) under hard braking.

I chose to got for a decent pad on these, after lots of consideration i chose EBC Yellowstuff. These get really good reviews. It is a track day pad but has very good bite from cold too

It is a Kevlar / Ceramic compound

Also had some braided lines made up from the Guys at HEL Performance.. got these at a superb deal with been a Club GTI member..  got Ben the Red ones for his MK3 too coz I'm a good mate like that
Mine are in the Carbon finish

(Big Thanks to Ben @ HEL for sorting these)

We Had to make up some spacers to fit the bigger carriers to my hubs

Here you can see the new spacers we made for the 312mm carriers, plus extended carrier bolts i sourced made from Super High Tensile steel. also added some washers.

280mm discs Versus the 312mm

All fitted:

was dark, but will get more pics in the daylight when the car is all back together (wing is off on this picture)

Still bedding in, first though was not good as i had bad juddering!!, seems this is the RED compound stuff thats on the pads from the factory to help them bed in..

By the time i arrived home these bad boys were already showing what stopping abilities they will have..

so far its impressive stuff, will report back later

Champion work!

Nice looking braided lines...are they better/more than the goodridge ones?

The Yellows pads look good behind the wheels, if your happy with, how about painting the callipers yellow too
