On the Caddy Conversion - the mounts we have had made, tilt the engine backwards, i had to chop parts of the bonnet off for it to clear the Throttle body  (this stuff should really be kept in the Caddy build tho )

I will be updating the Caddy thread after W/end, but theirs some pics of the engine in the bay already up

Sorry, you mentioned the Caddy in here, you know how it goes.

Got my Strengthened Sump back, and its now fitted to the car.. didn't get picks of it fitted as the Phone battery died, will get some on monday this when I'm next with the car.. left it in a warehouse till monday for the sealant to set

anyhow, 5mm plating of some of the strongest steel around, can't remember what he said it was but it won't rust and will take a lot of beatings

He also filled in all the cracks i had from the inside before he did the plating.

Im well please with this and look forward to giving it a good test..  dropping 2 more Sumps off on Monday

i only waned one small strip  just in front of the sump plug area of about a inch wide as its only this part that takes the beating form the road due to the angle of how the sump sites. but he has made the plate go right over on to the shallow half, which is a bonus.

Some pics

what's the idea behind checkerplate over flat steel?

what's the idea behind checkerplate over flat steel?

did you see earlier in the thread??  the sump has been hitting the floor and worn through, resulting in loss of all oil

this is to help aid strength.. and thats all

i mean as in reinforcing with plain sheet over checkered sheet

my thinking is that whatever scrapes on the sump will now catch on the checker and cause a bigger impact! might be worth grinding the raised bits off, at least it will just scrape then

did think of grinding the edges but didn't want to weaken it, TBH, its not bad at all, 5mm over standard to be exact lol.. and the bits that catch are not the parts that are where the welds are, so grinding down isn't really going to help

Car is too low, but i wanna keep it this way.. its my bad if it happens again but I'm interested to see how this fairs before i do any more mods to it

not the edges, the checker pattern!
