  It's always been low, but now a smidge too low for that sump IMO.

yep always been sat on its ass

can't raise engine, as you say we mentioned this before. i don't have the clearance topside due to bonnet..

only options i have are

1: raise car (not gonna happen as it would need to be raised lots to make it worthwhile and i will then look gay)
2; shallow sump (Big No No)
3 Remove engine and fit 8v (what nightmares are made of and never gonna happen
4; modify the sump to make it stronger

number 4 wins for now

If you're worried about the amount of oil, why not run a shallow sump and fit an oil cooler?

You forgot number 5........... Bonnet Bulge then engine raise.

number 4 sounds like you're still intent on letting the sump get smacked?????

If you're worried about the amount of oil, why not run a shallow sump and fit an oil cooler?

I don't think it's just temp concerns.

The oil cooler would increase the amount of oil he can put in back to standard if he ran a shallow sump.

yeah oil starvation on this engine is my main worry hence no shallow sumps for me, plus i want to keep my level sensor and the shallow type don't have this.. its not healthy to run shallow sump on the S3 engines..

really want the INA strengthened sump from the USA, spoke to the dude, he says its same size as OEM. but will just bend rather than crack.. if i can make mine this strong id be happy.. so i will see if it can be achieved . the one from USA is very $$$$$$$  to get here

The sump is gonna have to be able to take some abuse. i drive the car how it was made to be driven. (even tho its kept mint)

On a brighter note.. I'm kind of hoping Mr Santa might bring me a gift with Quaife written on it.. we will see.....

also gonna get Ben in the workshop making up an adapter plate so i can run 2.0T Coilpacks (they are same fit but too long).. so i can increase my spark gap..

Why did car manufacturers stop using steel sumps, bl00dy cast rubbish! Not sure when they changed but the mk1 has a "bendy" sump.

Suppose it's lighter, cheaper, blah blah blah.
