Fog Lights For Golf Mk3 (not GTI/VR6)
« on: 26 November 2009, 19:13 »
Tried to search for this stuff on the forum, but couldn't find what I'm looking for.

So I decided to put fogs on my Golf 1.8 SE, that doesn't originally come with, and got a few questions.

What I need:

1. Fog lights
2. Wiring loom
3. The switch (actually got this one already, that pulls out)

It's not a problem to buy all this stuff and replace the loom, but what I'm not sure about is whether I will be able to fit the fogs in, because there's no place to fix them.

At the moment, I got dummies, which just clip in, but fogs don't have clips, so how do I fit them?

the bumpers are all the same, non gti or gti. All you do is take the blanks out, and put the fogs in, they slide into one end, and screw into the other.

Oh, by the way, forgot to ask...

I got the switch, which pulls out only once, i.e. for the rear fogs. If I don't change it, will my front fogs work or I need to get the proper switch with double pull (rear + front)?

Thanks

It would be technically illegal to have both front and rear fogs coming together.
You are not allowed to use rear fogs at night. And front fogs at night if it isnt foggy!

Good link.

Surely the fogs & headlights is covered by:

236
You MUST NOT use front or rear fog lights unless visibility is seriously reduced (see Rule 226) as they dazzle other road users and can obscure your brake lights. You MUST switch them off when visibility improves.

At night I wouldn't say visibility is reduced.

You only ever need two tools in life. If it moves and it shouldn't use Duct Tape. If it does not move and it should, use WD40.
