no i didnt notice.. its the short arse engine rather than a bonnet full :/ my p reg was a boneest full and sooo 16 v it killed me.. this isnt

no car gets written off over a head gasket if its completely gone then yeah your looking at around 250 to fix it but if u catch it before it goes completely its cheap as anything :)

Not being funny Mate but this is your 7th Golf GTI and you don't know the difference between the 8v and the 16v ??  Also what checks did you perform when buying the car ??  Only asking as you don't know what engine is has and then you did not check for overheating etc.  On the plus side even if the headgasket is gone it's not that expensive to fix but I would begin with the basic tests first like thermostat, temp sender or check for air locks.

OMG.. i think i love you!!! ( on the basis that this is the fault!) sooo much stress with these cars..i guess its what keeps me going lol.. i notice its been VW serviced till 2010 so i guess ill call them and book her in

left car running for 35 mins while we did the paper work.. i was gonna buy it anyway!
 in the days yes youre right 16v was strewn...i cants see anything..even my P reg had it.. maybe its just a 2.0l
i did say im not mechanically minded..
i feel stupid enough ;)
